Thursday, August 16, 2012 Leroy’s Towing Specials X 3 at Stateline Speedway
by Glenn SlocumBUSTI, N.Y. -- “Specials X 3” this Saturday at Stateline Speedway sponsored by Leroy’s Towing of Corry. Jeff Gunnell Street Stock Special was washed out last weekend and will head the program for this Saturday followed by the Super Sportsman Special and the Super Challenger Special.
Waterford PA’s Chris Withers is the Street Stock King with a huge point lead over Stockton NY’s Brian Crandall and nine feature wins.
Jamestown NY’s Dan Nocero Jr. has dominated the Super Sportsman class all year and has all but clinched the points title. He has eight wins and leads second place Brocton NY’s Ron Burgen Jr. by nearly 600 points.
Stockton NY’s Chad Bender has a big lead in the Super Challenger division. Sinclairville NY’s Scott Dellahoy Jr. is second followed by Jamestown NY’s Nathan Lamb and Cherry Creek NY’s Kyle Jackson.
The Super Late Model Championship is still up for grabs. Veteran driver Waterford PA’s Rich Gardner has the advantage now but a poor finish in the next two events could allow Warren PA’s Dutch Davies to get his second title. Gardner leads Davies by 102 points which translates into just 11 positions on the race track. Franklinville NY’s Greg Oakes is 167 points behind Gardner and the only racer in the top without a Stateline title.
Eldred PA’s Damien Bidwell has three feature wins and a 264 point lead over Stockton NY’s Bob Dorman in the Crate Late Model division.
Waterford PA’s Steve Kania leads Sherman NY’s Chris Ottaway and Jamestown NY’s Steve Moynihan in the Limited Late Models.
Sherman NY’s Justin Carlson remains atop the E-Mod division 103 points ahead of Warren PA’s Butch Southwell.
Saturday’s general admission $12.00, Kids 6-15 $5.00 and Pit Fee $30.00. Gates open at 5:30, Pits at 4:00 and racing will start promptly at 7:00. See all the details on the web at www.stateline-speedway.com.
