Sunday, July 3, 2011 It All Worked out for Bret Welch, 'Berkshire Bandit' Collects Over $2,000 as Kenny Moore Classic Winner

CENTER LISLE, N.Y. -- Bret Welch of Berkshire, NY collected over $2,000 for winning the first ever running of "The Flyin' Milkman" Kenny Moore Classic on Sunday, July 3rd at Thunder Mountain Speedway. The driver capitalized on his front-row starting position, a good handling car and having lady luck on his side. Other Winners Included: Butch Green (Hurricane Street Stocks) and Joe Fanelli (XCEL 600 Modifieds).
Bret Welch and Ken Titus led the field of Sportsman to the green flag for the 60-lap feature event. Welch would take control of the race lead with Nick Nye falling into the 2nd position. The caution would come out on lap 2 when Kevin Jordan and Ken Titus spun in turn 2. When the race returned green, the field continued to filter back and fourth from position to position. Welch continued to maintain a steady pace with Nye following close behind. The caution would come out for the final time on lap 28 for an accident involving Marshall Balzer and Larry Hillis, III. As the field completed halfway, Welch led Nye, Ryan Jordan, Larry Hillis and Kevin Jordan. The action continued to mix up for the remaining 30 laps but no one could put a stop to the determination of Welch. Welch would take the checkered flag and win the first ever running of "The Flyin' Milkman" Kenny Moore Classic. Nye finished 2nd with Ryan Jordan, Larry Hillis and Jim LaRock completing the top 5 finishers.
