Friday, September 25, 2009 Crawley Wins Parts Plus Arkansas State Championship Race at Beebe Speedway
 by Pete WaltonBEEBE, Ark. -- Defending Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Mid South Thunder regional series Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton Arkansas drove the Boatersports sponsored David McCarver powered Ward Racing #88 to victory lane in the 30-lap Razorback Rumble Arkansas State Championship main event on Friday night at Beebe Speedway. It was Crawley's ninth feature win of the season in the Parts Plus USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour series this season and his fifth win-in-a-row.
Crawley started the main event in the third position behind K&N Filters Pole Award recipient Bryce Vowan from Forrest City, Arkansas. He then raced past Vowan on lap one into the runner-up spot and pursued defending Parts Plus USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. Gray had taken command of the point on lap one exiting turn two from his outside front row starting position. On lap three Crawley drove low off turn four, then won the drag race down the front stretch to take the lead from Gray was driving with a broken left foot sustained on 9/12/09 when the Winters U-Joint in his car shattered. Crawley then maintained the lead over the next 28 laps to win. He had to survive three re-starts after caution periods for spinouts. On the final re-start with six laps to go Gray was on Crawley's rear bumper and challenged the streaking Crawley to the finish line , but, Crawley's flying #88 again reached victory lane first for the ninth time this season.
Past series Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas finished in third place followed-by three-time National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Driver of the Year, Gary Wright from Hooks, Texas in the fourth position. Young gun, Brian Bell from Cordova, Tennessee rounded out the top five finishers.
The 2008 Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee led the balance of the 24-car field with a sixth place finish. Nicholson was followed by current USCS Rookie point's leader Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee .in seventh place. I-30 Speedway past Champion, Zach Pringle from Benton, Arkansas finished in the eighth position. Jeremy Newkirk from Roland, Arkansas finished ninth place. The 2007 USCS Mid South Thunder Rookie of the Year, Chris Williams from Cordova, Tennessee rounded out the top ten drivers.
Current Rookie point's leader, Justin Carver won the evenings six cars, six laps Parts Plus Power Dash. Terry Gray won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Marshall Skinner captured the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Anthony Nicholson won the Bar's Leaks Third Heat race. Koty Adams from Doylin, Louisiana advanced seven positions in the main event to garner the Lunati Crank It Up Award. Rookie of the Race honors went to Justin Carver and Brian Bell was the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race. The Dynotech Hard Luck award went to Cody Gardner from Benton, Arkansas who was unable to start the main event.
The USCS is action again this coming weekend in the Carolina "King of the Ovals" Challenge. The unique two night event features the Parts Plus USCS drivers competing at two different tracks over the weekend on two entirely different racing surfaces. On Friday, October 2nd the Parts Plus USCS will race on the 4/10 mile Carolina red clay at the famed Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina. On Saturday night, October 3rd the Parts Plus USCS Carolina "King of the Ovals" Challenge and the versatile USCS drivers move one hour North to the historic Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, North Carolina to contest the final round of KOO competition on the 3/10 mile paved Hickory oval.
