JUNCTION CITY, Ky. -- After a week hiatus, racing action was set to return to Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening, but Mother Nature would have other ideas and just 15 minutes prior to the drivers meeting, a thunderstorm would move over the track and dump a heavy amount of rain on the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval in a 30 minute time period, warranting the track to wet for racing action and forcing cancellation of the evening’s event at 7:15 p.m.

A total of 18 Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models, 12 Clayton Homes Modifieds, and 10 Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Sportsman were signed in for racing action when the rains came, with more cars waiting in line to get in before the cancellation was announced. All general admission tickets and pit passes from the May 4 rainout will be honored at any event the remainder of the 2012 racing season. If the cost is more at a particular event, patrons will only have to pay the difference in price. However, patrons must present their tickets or pit passes from this event to be able to exchange them for new ones.

The next racing action at Ponderosa Speedway is now set for Friday evening May 11 and will feature the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $1,200 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds racing for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing for $300 to win, and Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks racing for $200 to win.

Those drivers that were signed in for racing competition at the time the rains came on Friday May 4 included the following: Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models- Tyler Allen, Kevin Colston, Wesley Brummett, Jason Barrett, Joey Daniel, Dustin Linville, Justin Rattliff, Kathy Jarvis, Clarence Belcher, Jeff Watson, Matt Henderson, Buzz Williams, Mike Covington, Jerry Rice, James Rice, Michael Chilton, Dustin Neat, and Timmy Taylor; Clayton Homes Modifieds- Michael England, Tommy Bailey, Dustin Linville, Rocky Wilson, Ricky Arms, Cy Cundiff, J.T. Ayers, Don Adams, Jimmy Payne, Billy Meredith, Elliott Despain, and Jeff Rawlings; Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Sportsman- Johnny King, Bartley Grant, Derek Bottoms, Donnie Sullivan, Avral Thompson, Gerald Haynes, Jr., Scott Cecil, Shannon Scott, Robbie Settles, and Austin Taylor.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry Yantz is the track promoter and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season.
