Friday, June 8, 2012 Plenty of June Action Remaining at Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- With the opening June program in the record books and Jamie Lathroum scoring the Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek program, Hagerstown Speedway moves on to four additional programs during the month beginning this Saturday.
When Mother Nature interrupted the April 28 Steel Block Bandits Late Models Richard “Boney” Bonebrake Tribute event after the heats and only one B main had been completed, SBB and Hagerstown officials not only postponed the event to June 9th but added another complete program.
Saturday will begin with the second 15-lap B main to complete the lineup for the 30-lap Bonebrake event. The Bandits will then compete in a second fully sanctioned event, comprised of time trials, heats, B-mains and a 20-lap A main paying $1,000 to win.
This program also is Dukes Family night with only a $5.00 general admission charge to the stands. The attraction for the night is Crazy Cooter from the Dukes of Hazard television program. Ben Jones, known as Cooter Davenport, will be appearing at the speedway from 4 until 7, rain or shine. He’ll be available for autographs and photos and he’s bringing the famous General Lee #01 Dodge Charger along. Grandstand gates will open at 3 p.m. and racing will get underway at 7:00 p.m. which will also include the Ernie D’s pure stocks and the D&D Auto Recycling hobby stocks.
The Hoosier Daddy $1,000 to win event, initially scheduled for Dukes Night has been rescheduled to Elvis Family Night on August 4th.
The following Saturday, June 16, the World of Outlaw Late Model Series will make their first appearance since May 2010 when Josh Richards stood in victory lane. The hobby stocks will accompany the program. Racing gets underway at 7:00.
Saturday June 23 will be Armed Forces Appreciation Night with a special tribute to the forces serving our country. The program will feature the Buchanan Auto Stores Late Model Championship Series, along with the pure stocks and hobby stocks +KIDZ Club Military theme.
The month will come to an end on June 30 with the 47th Annual running of the Johnny Robert’s Memorial 50-lap event. Jason Covert is the defending winner after making it his third feature win of the 2011 season. The entire lineup will be on hand including the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman plus pure stocks and hobby stocks. A gigantic FIREWORKS display will also highlight the evening’s holiday program festivities.
