Saturday, September 25, 2010 Dave Feiler Wins Swiss Colony Fall Classic 50

OREGON, Wis -- The second day of the Swiss Colony MIS Fall Classic brought a great field of over 120 cars to the speedway for action in five divisions plus the Trailer Race. Dave Feiler was the winner in the Super Late Models, Dale Nottestad in the Big 8 Late Models, Jeremy Spoonmore in the MASCS, Tyler Deschaine in the Illini Midgets, and Ed and Erica Ensor in the Central States Super Cups. The Big 8 and MASCS reports will be submitted by their respective media directors.
Feiler Best in Super Late Model Show
Dave Feiler took home the top honors in the final race of the season at MIS by winning the 50 lap feature for the Super Late Models. With the temperatures dropping rapidly, Steve Rubeck and Matt Kocourek brought the field of twenty-six Super Late Models to the green flag. Rubeck jumped out to the lead followed by Kocourek, Bryan Reffner, Dave Feiler, and Andrew Morrissey. On lap 6 Morrissey would make the big move up to second behind Rubeck who had increased his lead over the field to five car lengths.
On lap 11 Morrissey dropped to the inside of Rubeck to make the pass for the lead coming out of turn three. On lap 20 Feiler would make his way past Rubeck for the second spot and begin his effort to hunt down the leader.
The race’s first caution came out on lap 24 when the car of Mike Beyer came to a stop in turn four after making contact with the wall.
After a failed restart the second time was a charm for Feiler who moved from the outside to power his way past Morrissey for the lead before the caution came out one lap later for a spin. The restart would find Morrissey getting the edge on Feiler for half a lap before Feiler regained the lead.
Behind Feiler and Morrissey, Nathan Haseleu moved up to third followed by Steve Rubeck, Ross Kenseth and fast qualifier Blake Brown. On lap 31 Haseleu would take his car to the pits moving Rubeck up to third.
Meanwhile out front Feiler and Morrissey were putting some ground between themselves and the rest of the field building a straight a way lead by lap 38. On lap 39, Brown would work his way past Rubeck for third with Kenseth overtaking Rubeck on lap 41.
Increasing their lead over the field, Feiler would continue to lead Morrissey by one car length. Morrissey looked for opening but Feiler was not about to give him the opportunity as he increased his lead to two car lengths and cruised to the checkered flag. Following Feiler and Morrissey were Brown, Kenseth, and Rubeck.
“This was a fast, fast track tonight,” said Feiler from victory lane. “We had to get the tires heated up and get it done.”

Illini Midget Win Goes to Tyler Deschaine Tyler Deschaine won the 20 lap feature for the Illini Midgets who were making their first-ever appearance at Madison International Speedway. The fourteen car field came to the green flag led by Doug Oreske and Sean Murphy. Murphy would grab the early lead followed by Eddie Sauer. Sauer would slide by Murphy on the inside to take over the lead on the second lap. The first caution of the event would come out on lap 5 for a spin on the backstretch.
Sauer would maintain his lead after the green flag waved again and would continue his lead until lap 13 when Allen Gillis took over the top spot. Gillis would eventually lose his lead to Deschaine who had worked his way up through the field.
Deschaine would be able to maintain his lead over the field and hold off Gillis at the line for the win. Sauer would finish third followed by Loran Critchett Jr. and Scott Koerner.
Finishing Order: 1)Tyler Deschaine, 2)Allen Gillis, 3)Eddie Sauer, 4)Loran Critchett Jr., 5)Scott Koerner, 6)Sean Murphy, 7)Derrick Gough, 8)Ben Gillis, 9)Aaron Willis Jr., 10)Charlie Holt, 11)Doug Oseske, 12)Justin Lindemann, 13)Tyler Trainor, 14)Lamont Critchett
Erica Ensor Wins Super Cup Junior Feature
Erica Ensor won the 20 lap feature for the Central States Super Cups.
The four car field was brought to the green by Jordan Wendt who would lead the first circuit before Ensor would power her way to the front via the inside groove. Ensor would build her advantage over the field but would lose the multi-car length advantage when the caution flag came out on lap 14. Ensor would continue to lead after the restart with Jordan McCaskey up to challenge her. Closing quickly on the leader, McCaskey wouldn’t have enough as Ensor hung on for the win by just a car length. Tyler Brown would finish third followed by Jordan Wendt. Jordan McCaskey won the heat race followed by Ensor, Brown, and Wendt.
Two for Two for the Ensor Family as Ed Ensor Wins Super Cup Senior Feature
The Senior feature for the Central States Super Cups went to Ed Ensor.
Derrick Van Dreel and Mike Harrold led the field to the green flag with Van Dreel getting the early lead after one circuit. On lap 2 the lead would change with Jim Termanes taking the honors but only for a short time as Ensor moved past him for the lead.
With Ensor showing the way out front, a good battle was taking place behind him between Termanes and Tony Velez. The three leaders would break away from the pack with Velez taking over second on lap 10. Velez would hold the second spot until going off the track on the backstretch on lap 14 putting Termanes back into second.
But none of the action behind Ensor really mattered to him as he continued to lead the rest of the way to pick up the win. Camden Murphy would get by Termanes at the stripe for second with Velez finishing fourth and Steve Naples in fifth.
