ROSEVILLE, Calfi. -- Last weekend All American Speedway hosted Armed Forces Night in honor of the upcoming Memorial Holiday. Any active or former military personnel received free admission for Saturday nights racing action, featuring the Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks and the NCMA Sprints. All four divisions put on an exciting show for the fans.

First up were the NCMA sprints and No. 3 David Goodwill posted fast times in practice, however No. 76 Ed Amador edged out qualifying with a fast time of 13.650 seconds. No. 88 Denny Burrell, David Goodwill, No. 77 Burt Siverling and No. 24 Bob Dias rounded out the fast five. Both Burrell and Goodwill won a heat race victory and E. Amador took home the trophy dash win. An invert of six was drawn for the division setting No. 7 Steve Amador on pole with Bob Dias leading the field to the green flag. S. Amador jumped to an early lead. Midway thru lap one, S. Amador had gained two car lengths on Dias in second. Not so fast, Dias caught up to S. Amador before lap one was complete. Goodwill and Siverling raced side by side and rubbed tires on lap one. On lap two, Dias and S. Amador made contact in turn two which resulted in the No. 24 to go airborne over the No. 7 car. No. X Dan Ariaz t-boned S. Amador and all three drivers suffered damages to their race machines ending their night early. Goodwill and E. Amador led the remaining field to the restart and Goodwill took the early lead. Goodwill took the lead for good and never once looked back for the rest of the 35 lap main event. Burrell maintained a solid second place finish followed by E. Amador, Siverling and Trimble the top five.

Next up were the Late Models fielding 13 cars and three drivers were fast right out of the box, No. 35 Matt Scott, No. 14 Travis Milburn and No. 5 Chris Scribner. Both Scott and Milburn set fast times in practice as Scribner topped the division in qualifying with the fastest lap of 13.813 seconds. Followed by Matt Scott, Travis Milburn, No. 98 Glen Cook and Southern California driver No. 71 Kyle McGrady the fast five. In the trophy dash, Idaho resident Milburn captured his second consecutive trophy dash victory. An invert of eight was drawn which set No. 75 Chuck Glick and No. 3 Bobby Butler on the front row to lead the 13 car field to the green. Glick and Butler battled for the top spot right away and Butler edged out Glick for the lead in turn two. Race cars in the fourth through eighth posistions all battled side by side for three laps until a yellow was thrown. No. 44 Ron Chunn collided with McGrady in turn two collecting Cook and Scott. McGrady suffered no damages however, nose and fender damage for Chunn, minimal hood damage to Scott and Cook got the worse of it suffering nose and fender damages as his nose was hanging by just the chassis struts. Tough break for Cook as the damages to his machine ended his night early. Butler and Glick were set to restart the field again and Butler took the early lead. Battling for second, Chunn collided with Glick on lap three in turn two sending a loose Glick falling back to sixth. On lap four Chunn and Scribner rubbed fenders in turn four and Scribner powered to second. A three wide pass was made by Scott, Milburn and Chunn in turn two on lap six and all drivers made it out safe. By lap eight, Scribner began catching the leader to set his car up to make the pass for the lead. On lap ten, an eager Scott and Milburn traded paint as the two raced side by side in turn two. On lap 16, a loose Butler slid up the track allowing Scribner to make the pass for the lead. Scott jumped to the inside of Scribner on lap 19 and the two drivers battled side by side for the next four laps. Scott stole the lead on lap 23 leaving Scribner to battle with Milburn for second. On lap 26, Chunn performed a bump and run on Butler for fourth making Bulter loose. Next Lap Bulter returns the favor to Chunn. Chunn had to re-think how he was going to get around Butler again and this time on lap 47 Chunn and Butler raced side by side for six laps rubbing fenders and Chunn completed the pass. Milburn in second running with the leader pulled off the track due to electrical problems ending his night. By lap 72, Chunn ran down Scribner for second and the two raced aggressively side by side for second on the last lap. Matt Scott ran to his second 2012 All American Speedway victory followed by Ron Chunn, Chris Scribner, Bobby Butler and Kyle McGrady the top five.

Third up for the night were the Modifieds fielding 16 cars with No. 24 Scott Winters fast right out of the trailer owning both practice sessions as well as setting fast time in qualifying with 14.030 seconds. Following Winters were No. 45 Rich Lindgren, No. 14 Chase Grigsby, No. 68 Cody Thompson and No. 5 Jason Bamberg the fast five. Both No. 49 John Mamula and No. 25 Jay Linstroth collected a heat race win and No. 50 Gary Glen took home the trophy dash victory. An invert of eight was spun for the division setting Glen and Mamula to lead the field to the green flag. Mamula took the early lead. The top three drivers were all nose to tail for the lead for the first three laps. On lap five, Linstroth went to the inside of Mamula for the lead as the two raced side by side for three laps and Mamula still leading. On lap 11, Glen and Thompson battled for third side by side and the two rubbed tires which sent Thompson spinning in turn two. Mamula and Linstroth restarted the field, before the lap was complete, Lindgren, No. 3 Don Swartz and Grigsby all collided in turn two. Swartz went airborne over Grigsby and luckily was able to land on all fours without flipping. A shaken up Swartz’s night ended early with bent front suspension preventing him to finish the race. Linstroth and Mamula restarted the field again and this time Linstroth powered to an early lead. By lap 14, Winters was on Linstroth’s rear studying the leader’s every move on track. For the next five laps, Winters tried to make his pass for the lead on both the outside and inside of Linstroth and Linstroth closed the door on Winters every time. Lap 21, Winters finally made a complete pass on Linstroth for the lead and never looked back. Scott Winters went onto a 2.475 second victory over Jay Linstroth followed by Jason Bamberg, Gary Glen and John Mamula the final five.

Last up for the night was the Street Stock Division fielding 10 cars. No. 08 Mickey Owens was fast except No. 57 Eric Price proved to Owens that he was faster by setting fast time in qualifying with 14.947 seconds. Followed by Price and Owens were No. 23 Richard Poppert Jr, No. 21 Kevin Owens and No. 22 Mark Blanton the fast five. No. 52 Matt Camp and No. 2 Mel Wilson shared a pair of heat race wins and Mel Wilson took home the trophy dash victory. Camp and Wilson led the field to the green flag and Camp took the early lead. As Camp began to put ground between second, second through eighth were all nose to tail battling for positions. On lap five, Kevin Owens and Poppert battled side by side for a few laps for the third position. On lap seven, No. 98 Byron Gonzales and No. 33 Mike Gorman raced side by side rubbing fenders for seventh for ten laps. As the two put on a great show Gonzales powered out and completed the pass. By lap 14, Camp had gained over a half a straight away lead over the field as Wilson, K. Owens and Poppert all battled for second. On lap 26, an eager Poppert gave K. Owens a bump and run and his pass was incomplete. On lap 33, a loose Wilson allowed K. Owens to slide by for second. Matt Camp went onto an easy 1.098 second victory over Kevin Owens. Followed by Mel Wilson, Richard Poppert Jr and Mark Blanton the top five.

With round five in the books the night went smoothly and all the drivers enforced proper sound requirements.
