Friday, June 15, 2012 All American Speedway Welcomes Fathers this Weekend for Father's Day
by Kristin ScribnerROSEVILLE, Calif. -- This Saturday, June 16th All American Speedway will host Racing For Father's Day featuring the Bombers 35, Street Stocks 35, Legends 35, Vintage Super Modifieds 25, as well as hosting the famous Late Model Series Airport Auto Brokers Late Models 75. The AABLM were just here a few weeks ago and they put on an outstanding show for the fans and hope to do so again this Saturday. In honor of Father's day, the speedway will not be charging the fans, spectators and teams parking in the C lot. Racing For Father's Day shall bring lots of excitement with all of the divisions on board and be sure to stay cool as the temperatures reach triple digits this weekend. The All American Speedway Novelty booth will have cooling gadgets for purchase as well.
The championship points battles are becoming more and more heated as we approach mid season and the Bomber division clearly shows just that. Last weekend the speedway saw a record number of bombers hit the track with 22 cars, it's been years since the division saw that many cars on track at once. David Thompson continues to lead the way in points with a total of 279. Runner up, Erick Ray sits 19 points behind the leader as he just collected his second win of the season last weekend. Sitting in third is Richard Perez with 247 points and Joe Rhodes in fourth with 216 points. Eric Bocksberger is sitting in fifth barely holding onto fourth by four points. This weekend will see the top drivers getting anxious for the victory to add to their points status.
The Street Stocks division will return this weekend after a week break and heading into Saturday's event Mickey Owens is the driver to beat. The unstoppable Owens has a reputation of controlling the points system and this year he is at it again by sitting in the top spot in the championship points. Owens leads with 247 points with his brother Kevin Owens in second. K. Owens is just 16 points from the top spot but he has to worry about defending that position with Matt Camp in third. Camp has 224 points and is creeping up on K. Owens by seven points. Richard Poppert Jr is fourth with 195 points and Byron Gonzales fifth with 164 points. The Street Stocks are always putting on a fantastic show for the fans and will do it again this weekend.
Both the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models are on vacation and will not be racing this weekend. Both divisions will make their return on July 7th ready to put on some great racing action. The Legends, Vintage Super Modifieds and the AABLM series as always put on lots of excitement and please welcome them this weekend.
