COLUMBUS, Wis. -- Scott Patrick won a 15-lap front-row battle and then exploded forward on two restarts to win the Cherry Bomb 50 Late Model feature at Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night.

Patrick, of Dousman, and Lincoln Keeser battled side-by-side for the top spot for the first 15 laps. Patrick had nearly a full car-length lead on the outside lane when the first caution of the race came for a spinning Bart Reinen.

Patrick took off on the restart, while Jerry Auby slide under Keeser into second. Keeser would bring out the second caution midway through the race with a spin in turn four.

Patrick again took off on the restart and won by a full straight away. Auby finished second ahead of Don Gaserude, Ron Bishofberger and Andy Tomlinson.

Phil Denikas of Columbus won the caution free 30-lap Sportsman after taking the lead with just four laps to go.

Dan Gosda used the pole position to get the lead, but Gary Winters would challenge on the outside for the first 10 laps.

On lap 10, the number changed, but not the last name as Mike Winters took over second and tried to pass Gosda on the outside.

On lap 22, Mike Winters’ efforts on the outside were not enough and he started to slide back in the field giving Denikas second on the inside groove.

Denikas then took his turn on the outside of Gosda and with four laps to go, got a great run coming out of turn two to lead for the first time.

Gosda would stay inside Denikas until the finish, but it was Denikas claiming the checkered flag by a half car-length over Gosda. Bud Riedner, Jake Wasserburger and Kevin Anderson rounded out the top five not far behind the leaders.

In Hobby Stock action, Waunakee’s Kyle Reidner took home first in the 12-lap main event.

Reidner led every lap as all three off the other drivers in the field had there turn in second place, but the Reidner would never give up the bottom lane. Jim Tate Jr., Dustin Ward and Ben Monday rounded out the field.

Billy Robinson of Orfordville used and early restart to move in front for the 20-lap Thunderstock feature win.

Justin Wagner jumped out to big lead to open the race before Robinson worked by D.L. Hatton for second. Hatton would spin to bring out the caution on lap five to set the table for Robinson.

On the restart, Robinson made contact with Wagner in turn three and shot into the lead and never looked back.

Kale Peterman passed Tony Chase for second on the 20th and final lap, while Jeffery Burrows and Wagner rounded out the top five.

Beaver Dam’s Phil Wuesthoff claimed the 18-lap Bandit feature after the field was turned around twice in the event.

A wild start that included three-wide racing for second had Wuesthoff take over the lead by lap five. Dave Schmidt found his way up to second before the first caution on lap seven.

After the cars were turned clockwise on the track, Brandon Johnson moved from outside the top five into second in less than two laps before a caution on lap 12 slowed the field again.

Once again, the cars were turned counterclockwise on the track for the final six laps.

Kyle Watters moved up to third on the outside to challenge for the lead, but Wuesthoff was to the task to bring home the win. Watters, Johnson, Jeffery LeFave Jr. and Carlyn Voigt rounded out the top five.
