Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Snags $5k Payday at Columbus

NORTHPORT, Ala. -- Wins are always welcome in the racing world, but sometimes they are needed more than other times. For Ronny Lee Hollingsworth one of those much-needed wins made an appearance on Saturday night as he scored a $5,000 payday at Columbus Speedway in his #18 Flynn Motorsports/ Barry Wright/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth was able to get the monkey off his back on Saturday night by claiming the $5,000 win in the 11th Annual James Nickoles Memorial at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Twenty-five Super Late Models entered the program, which was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), and Hollingsworth began the night by blasting to fast time honors around the 1/3 mile oval with a 13.67 second lap. He would go on to finish second to Jeremy Broadus in the dash to lock into the second starting spot for the 50 lap finale. When the green flag dropped Ronny Lee bolted to the lead, and despite a late-race scare in lap traffic would lead the distance to claim the win, which came over Dane Dacus, Scott Dedwylder, Eric Cooley, and Tanner English. The victory was his fourth of the season and first in over three months.

"The past few months have just been a nightmare with bad luck, random part failures, and other crazy stuff. This win is huge for us and our team, and it comes at just the right time. Hopefully this is the shot in the arm that we've been looking for," noted Hollingsworth. "I can't thank Mr. Flynn and all of my great sponsors for their support."

The team currently plans to not race anywhere this coming weekend, but will tentatively return to action on August 17th-18th, with a pair of MSSCS Super Late Model events in Mississippi. On Friday the tour will roll into Hattiesburg Motorsports Park (Hattiesburg, MS) before traveling to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, MS) on Saturday evening. Ronny Lee Hollingsworth would like to thank all of his sponsors including Waddle Trucking, Flynn Racing, Kelley Electrical Contractors, Clements Racing Engines, MSRMafia.com, Xtreme Graphics By J-Rod, Stuckey Enterprises, Hoosier Racing Tires, VP Racing Fuels, Barry Wright Race Cars, and O.H. Hendricks.
