MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. -- Close finishes was how you could describe the features at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Saturday. The Krause Electric Street Stocks special paying $400 was won by Jim Bendishaw, Jr. Bob Gordon returned to victory lane in the Hooiser Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models while Nolan Dalton (High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models), Denny Perigo (Modifieds), JT Baird (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers) and Paul Koffler, Jr. (Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners) were all repeat winners.

Morgantown, WV’s Nolan Dalton started on the pole in the 20-lap High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Model feature. Dalton took off at the drop of the green trailed by Troy Shields. Shields stayed in the shadows of Dalton until Kyle Thomas replaced him on lap 17. By then Dalton had a half straight lead. Thomas drove hard and was able to catch him on the final lap. Coming out of turn four Thomas shot underneath Dalton and fell short by less than at fender at the finish line. Dalton won his third main of the season. Thomas took second followed by Shields, Mike Lewis, Bobby Cossell, Ken Herman, Rick Singleton, Louie Krushansky, Jeff Ferguson and Andrew Wylie. Qualifying heats were won by Lewis and Thomas.

The 25-lap Krause Electric Street Stock Special was next up. Mike Duritsky shot from his fourth starting spot to take the lead on lap one. Duritsky was fast and began to drive away. Jim Bendishaw, Jr. had other ideas took then lead away on lap nine. Todd Dennis started sixth and took over second on lap 13. From there it was a classic battle between the two biggest winners in the class. Dennis made several attempts on the low side to pass Bendishaw but each time he held his ground. The final caution flew on lap 21. The final four laps saw the pair side by side with Dennis leading lap 24. Bendishaw drove hard into turn one and again they were even down the back straight.

Bendishaw used the high groove with Dennis low. As they came out of turn four Dennis gave him just enough room and Bendishaw had the momentum and beat Dennis by a bumper at the line for his second win of the year. Dennis settled for second ahead of Mike Duritsky, Bob Nelson, Bob Miller, Jim Byers, Charlie McClain, Jason Gibbs, Michael Duritsky and Ed Vogel. Mike Duritsky and Bendishaw claimed heat wins.

It had been a little over a year since Keyser, WV’s Bob Gordon was in victory lane but that dry spell ended with Gordon leading all 25-laps in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Model feature. Gordon as chased every lap by Scott Rhodes and John Garvin. Rhodes secured the second spot with Garvin third. Billy Holbert, Ron Delano, Jr., Matt Cosner, Bob Hershman, LC Powers, Derek Doll and Dusty Hamrick filled out the top ten. Garvin and Delano were heat winners.

The Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers again put on a show for the fans in their 12-lap feature. JT Baird picked up his second win of 2012 after passing Bradley Nesline on lap three and then holding off the challenges of Shawn Smith. Third through tenth were Kenny Burkholder, Ed Vogel, Kyle Burkholder, CJ Nicola, Bradley Nesline, Cody Colflesh, Eric Miller and Corey Faris. Baird and Smith won the two heats.

A slim field of Newt’s York Bar Roadunners saw Paul Koffler, Jr., of West Leisenring, secure his fourth win so far. Cindy Rhodes was second over Todd Detrick, Ed Detrick, Steve Settle, Paul Koffler III and heat winner Mark Seiler.

Evan Taylor lead every lap but the last in the 15-lap Modified feature. Taylor made no mistakes leading lap after lap. On the final lap he gave Denny Perigo enough room to stick his nose underneath in turn one. The pair bumped and Perigo was the new leader. Taylor stormed back and the two bumped and banged off each other from turn three to the finish line with Perigo earning his third feature win. Taylor was a disappointed second with Brent Trimble, Jonathan Taylor, Tom Martineck, Deana Groves, Vic Vandergrift, Denny Nakutis, Matt Chenoweth and Josh Cramer the top ten. Vandergrift and Grove were heat winners for the 14 car field.
