MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. -- After 19 years of racing Chad McClellan won his first Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex feature in the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Super Late Models. The win was the 50th of his career. Nolan Dalton picked up his sixth High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Model checker while Steve Settle won his fourth in the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners. Earning their third win of the season were Deana Groves (Modifieds), Bob Nelson (Krause Electric Street Stocks) and JT Baird (Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers).

Mike Duritsky jumped into the lead at the start of the Krause Electric Street Stock feature.

Duritsky looked to have things in control until he brought out the yellow on lap 10 after slowing with a flat tire. This handed the lead over to Dunbar’s Bob Nelson who led the final six laps for his third division feature. Todd Dennis, Marty Spade, Jr., Jason Gibbs and Jim Byers were the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Mike Duritsky, Ron Howard, Eric Smith, Michael Duritsky and Charlie McClain. Dennis and Jim Bendishaw, Jr. won the heats.

Scott Rhodes led the first two laps of the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Super Late Model feature. Coming out of turn four on lap three he pushed up and Stoystown’s Chad McClellan was waiting to pounce. McClellan blew by for the lead. A few laps later Bob Gordon also got by. Gordon stayed within striking distance until the waning laps. McClellan crossed under the checker for his first-ever Roaring Knob win. In victory lane he stated that it was his 50th career win.

Gordon settled for second ahead of Billy Holbert, Rhodes, Tim Senic, Matt Cosner, Butch McGill, LC Powers, John Garvin and Bob Hershman. Heats were won by Cosner and Rhodes.

West Leisenring’s Steve Settle passed Paul Koffler, Jr. on lap three and went uncontested for his fourth Newt’s York Bar Roadrunner feature win. The wins made him the all-time leading feature winner in the 4 Cylinder class with a total of 12. Cindy Rhodes rode home second in front of Paul Koffler, Jr., Ed Detrick, Todd Detrick, Jarred Barclay, Allen Fortney, Michael Jellick, David Friend, Jr. and Mark Seiler. Taking heat wins were Seiler and Koffler.

The drop of the green in the 15-lap Modified feature saw Bruce Dreistadt out front. Dennis Perigo pressured him until he was able to get by on lap seven. Perigo’s stay at the front on lasted three laps before Morgantown, WV’s Deana Groves took over the top spot. Perigo fought back but came up short with Groves taking her third win of the season. Perigo was second over Nick Cramer, Dreistadt, Denny Nakutis, James Sparks, Larry Atha, Bill Yohe and Matt Chenoweth. Groves won the lone heat.

Mike Lewis was looking for his first win of the year in the High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models. Lewis was out front for six laps and then Nolan Dalton used the cushion to drive by Lewis into the lead. Kyle Thomas took second on lap 17 but it was too late as Dalton was long gone on his way to his sixth feature of the year. Thomas, Lewis, Ben Policz, Troy Shields, Bobby Cossell, Tom Sieger, Michael Lake, Vince Masi, Jr. and Jeff Compton completed the top ten. Shields and Thomas shared heat wins.

Again, one of the best features of the night belonged to the Ft. Necessity Garage Chargers. The first six laps were led by Kyle Burkholder with steady pressure from Cody Colflesh. Colflesh lost the handle on lap six giving second to JT Baird. Baird wasted little time once the green was dropped going to the outside and passing Burkholder for the number one spot. Baird held off Shawn Smith to earn his third checker. Smith, Kyle Burkholder, Kenny Burkholder, CJ Nicola, Brad Jenkins, Cody Colflesh, Bradley Nesline, Eric Miller and Charlie Bittinger were the top ten. Kyle Burkholder and Colflesh won the heats.

Saturday, July 14 is highlighted by a 20-lap Ft. Necessity Garage Charger feature. Also on tap that night is the Hooiser Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models, High Gear Speed Shop FASTRAK Late Models, Modifieds, Krause Electric Street Stocks, and the Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners.
