MANITOWOC, Wis. -- With temperatures in the 80’s, sunny skies, and a huge field of Sprint Cars and Late Models it was a race fans paradise Friday night at the Manitowoc County Expo Speedway. The race night was sponsored by Jerry’s Bakery, Two Rivers, and the trophy sponsor was Zip Prints of Sheboygan.

Lance Fassbender (Burnett) picked up his first 2009 EWSC Sprint Car A-Main win and Paul Parker (Appleton) picked up his third straight EWSC Late Model feature win. Mike Bastian (Manitowoc) claimed his second EWSC Grand National feature win and Adam Krepline took home his fourth EWSC Hobby Stock feature victory.

Robbie Pribnow (Mayville) jumped out to the lead of the 360 Sprint Car 30 lap A-Main from his pole position start. Melee broke out on lap 2 when many cars got together in turn 3 retiring Jeremy Schultz (Beaver Dam), Randy Call (New Berlin) and Dave Lisowe (Chilton) to the pits for the remainder of the night. Several other cars went to the work area and were able to make it back out to continue the race. On the restart, Kurt Davis (Milwaukee) took the lead away from Pribnow and on lap 10 started to encounter lapped traffic. The field was slowed on lap 11 for the car of Danny Schlafer (Sussex) stopping in turn 2. The green was shown and Fassbender passed Pribnow for second with TJ Luedke (Plymouth) following putting Pribnow in fourth. With what looked like a victory for Davis, the caution flew on lap 25 for the leader. Davis had mechanical problems and his ride stopped in turn 2 handing the lead over to Fassbender. With Luedke and Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) lined up directly behind him, Fassbender knew he had to have a good, clean restart. He did just that and brought home his first 2009 EWSC Sprint Car A-Main trophy. Rounding out the top 5 were Luedke, Modjeski, Shane Wenninger (who started 15th), and Pribnow.

Call took the lead of the flag to flag 15 lap Sprint Car B-Main and led the entire race. Finishing behind Call were Mark Wernes, Jr (Mukwonago), Joe Wipperfurth (Columbus), Scott Mohs (Sheboygan Falls), Scott Conger (Eagle), and Brandon Thone (Sheboygan).

The 25 lap Late Model feature was a Parker and Parker show. Pete Parker (Kaukauna) and son, Paul Parker (Appleton), lined up side by side to start the show. Pete took the lead for the first 5 laps and when they came around to be scored on lap 6 Paul was leading. On lap 9, lapped traffic came into play. The only caution of the race came on lap 19 for the car of Ralph Aschenbrenner (Oneida). Paul Parker set the pace for the remainder of the race and finished in front of Pete Parker, Tom Naeyaert (Shawano), Craig Schueffner (Sheboygan Falls), and Tim Buhler (Glenbuelah).

The 15 lap Late Model B-Main saw pole sitter Ron Berna (Green Bay) take the lead for the first 4 laps. On lap 5, Russ Scheffler (Pewaukee) took control of the race. Caution came out on lap 9 for the car of the Dingel Brothers spinning in turn 4. The only other caution of the race came two laps later for Eric Michaels (Cleveland) losing control of his ride and spinning in turn 2. Scheffler claimed the victory and transferred to the A-Main along with Robert Cullen (Chilton), Berna, Kyle Odekirk (Waldo), Tim Carman (Sheboygan Falls), Jeff Sayler (Howards Grove), Jim Rychtik (Port Washington), and Ray Reiss (Kiel).

The 20 lap Krajnik Chevrolet Grand National A-Main got off to a slow start. Before a lap was complete, five cars got together in turn 3. After getting things cleaned up, the race was restarted with Matt Jackson (Sheboygan) taking the lead for the first lap. On lap 2, Mike Bastian (Manitowoc) took the over the reigns. On lap 4, Bob Peter (Howards Grove) passed Jackson for second and was in pursuit of Bastian. Brian Gilles (Plymouth), who started 11th, was in the five on lap 5. He moved into fourth on lap 8 and had his sites on the leader. On lap 18, Gilles passed Jackson for third but was running out of laps to catch Bastian and Peter. Bastian crossed the line to for the win followed by Peter, Gilles, Jackson, and Jason Dyer (New Holstein).

The 15 lap Hobby Stock A-Main was a race filled with cautions. Jay VanAsten (Chilton) took the lead for the first lap. On lap 2, Kyle Resch (Manitowoc) passed VanAsten for the lead. On lap 5, the race was slowed for several cars spinning and getting together in turn 4. One lap later, the field was slowed again for the car of James Riske (Manitowoc) stopping on the front stretch with mechanical problems. On the restart, Adam Krepline (Manitowoc), who started 11th, took the lead from Resch. Bradley Ruh (Elkhart Lake) started 12th and on lap 7 passed Resch for second. With his target in front of him, Ruh chased Krepline until they were slowed on lap 9 for the car of Ryan Minster (Sheboygan) spinning in turn 2. On the restart, Krepline stayed in front with Ruh and Resch lined up directly behind him. Krepline led the rest of the way to claim his second straight and his fourth Hobby Stock A-Main trophy. Finishing behind Krepline was Ruh, Resch, Jeff Leonhard (Sheboygan), and Pat Wazny (St. Nazianz)
