MANITOWOC, Wis. -- For the third week in a row Mother Nature attempted to hamper the race fans plans of attending the races with possible rain in the forecast, but it turned out to be a beautiful night of racing. The race night was sponsored by Bank First National and the trophy sponsor was Waldo Oil Co., Inc. We were happy to have Holiday House join us for the races and there was a coin drop for the kids. Christmas in July was also celebrated.

The 30 lap MSA presented by Image l Motorsports 30 lap Sprint Car A-Main got off to a slow start. Before a complete circuit was made, the car of Derek Siegel (St. Francis) stalled in turn two. Joe Wipperfurth (Columbus) took control of the race from the pole position. The field was stopped on lap two for the car of Jay Riemer (Sheboygan Falls) tipping over in turn two. Another caution came out two laps later for the ride of Robbie Pribbnow (Mayville) stopping in turn four. Pribbnow retired to the pits for the remainder of the night. Wipperfurth continued to lead with Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) and TJ Luedke (Plymouth) chasing him down. The caution flag flew on lap eight for the spinning car of Randy Call (New Berlin) in turn four. Luedke passed Modjeski for second on the restart. On lap 15, Wipperfurth encountered lapped traffic. The field was slowed once again on lap 16 for the car of Jeremy Schultz (Beaver Dam) stopping on the backstretch. On the restart, the car of Dave Lisowe (Chilton) stalled on the frontstretch. As the green flag flew, Brian Kristan (Zion, IL) got a good jump and on lap 19 was scored as the leader. Luedke passed Wipperfurth for second and continued to chase down the leader. The last caution of the race came on lap 27 for the ride of Paul Pokorski (West Bend) stopping in turn four with a flat tire. With the time limit now expired, the order was to go green, white, checkered. Kristan showed the way to the checkers followed by Luedke, Wipperfurth, Tony Wondra (Campbellsport), and Modjeski.

The 25 lap Late Model feature saw Craig Schueffner (Sheboygan Falls) take the lead from his outside front row starting position. Tim Buhler crossed the line on lap six to claim the lead. Buhler threw his car in high gear and on lap eight encountered lapped traffic. Buhler smoothly made his way around the lapped cars. The only caution of the race came on lap 13 for the car of Rick Scheffler (Oconomowoc) spinning in turn four. Russ Scheffler and Gordie Seegert, Jr. were starting to put the heat on Buhler but Buhler had his sights on a victory. On lap 22, Seegert passed Scheffler for second but Buhler took home the trophy followed by Seegert, Scheffler, Schueffner, and Dan Sorce (Franklin).

The 20 lap Krajnik Chevrolet Grand National feature had four lead changes in the first nine laps. Paul Tod (Redgranite) led for the first lap. On the next lap, Brian Henry (Omro) showed the way for a lap. The caution flag came out on lap two for the car of Jason Dyer (New Holstein), Tyler Hansen (Manitowoc) and Tom Schneider (Chilton) getting together in turn four. On the restart, Tim Warner (Malone) spun in turn one. For the next six laps, Steve Schneider (Chilton) paced the field. The last caution of the race came on lap seven for the car of Henry spinning in turn four. On lap nine, Brian Gilles (Plymouth) took the lead and didn’t look back. S. Schneider and Bob Peter (Howards Grove) chased Gilles but couldn’t catch him. Crossing the line behind Gilles was S. Schneider, Peter, Jason Winkler (New Holstein), Chad Kistner (New Holstein), and Jestin Danes (New Holstein).

Jay VanAsten (Chilton) took the lead of the 15 lap Hobby Stock feature for the first five laps and being chased by Kyle Resch (Manitowoc). On lap six, Resch passed VanAsten for the lead but that was short lived. On lap seven, Adam Krepline took the reigns. The race was slowed for the only time on lap 11 for the car of James Riske loosing a tire. Krepline set the pace for the last four laps and took home his sixth feature trophy of the year. Chasing Krepline to the line was Matt McDonald (Manitowoc), Resch, Mike Kaufmann (Manitowoc), and Jeff Bender (Plymouth).

Join EWSC next week Friday, July 31, for Police, Fire and Paramedic night the races. Racing starts at 7:00
