 by Race AuthorWILLARD, K.Y. -- Tom Hall shows the way at Willard Speedway Saturday night. 2006 has brought us some of the most exciting racing in Eastern KY and this race night was no exception.
Hall jumped out to an early lead in the 6H car and never looked back to take the win in the Outlaw Race Cars Late Models. "Flyin’" Brian Pennington in the 15 car came from 4th to nail down 2nd place and take the Bluegrass Preservation Society Hard Charger Award! The 79 of Tony Hamilton fought back to take 3rd after an early race spin, the 95 of Jesse Skaggs, and the AM 1080 Sporting News Radio car of Carl Dillow II. rounded out the top 5.
In the Bluegrass Preservation Society AMRA Modifeds, "Racin’" Jason Perry lead the way in the 20 car with the 22 of Bobby Tackett in tow for 2nd. Huey Cox in the 0 car, Jack Tackett in the 2T, and Lester Robinette in the 32 car running a GMPP 602 crate engine round out the top 5 in the Modifieds. Modified Rookie Huey Cox took the Bluegrass Preservation Society Hard Charger Award for the Modified class.
The Poske’s Performance Parts Pure Stocks put on one of the best shows of the night with a very strong field of cars. The L2 of Brian "Leadfoot" Lawson was the class of the field with the R5 of Quentin Rayburn taking 2nd. Mitch Hall in the M18 barely edged out the 28 of Kevin Smith for 3rd with a photo finish after a 5 lap fender to fender duel. Rookie Eric Dennison in the 47 car landed a very nice 5th place finish.
The Draughn Racing Supply/Sunoco Fuels Mini Mods and Mini Stocks combined for one of the most exciting races of the evening. Marty Hall took yet another win with Willard resident Doug Guilds bringing home 2nd place. The 101 of Wayne Dawson swipes a 3rd place finish away from the R2 of Rex Slone. The 22 of Jerry McKinney completes the top 5.
The Outlaw Race Cars Late Models, The BPS AMRA Modifieds, Poske’s Performance Parts Pure Stocks, and the Draughn Racing Supply /Sunoco Fuel Mini Stocks and Mini Mods will ibe Racin' in Grayson at the Tri-State’s Fastest ¼ Mile once again this Saturday Night June 24th at Willard Speedway, Eastern KY's best kept secret!
Pit Gates will open at 4 P.M. General Admission opens at 6 P.M. Racing at 8 P.M.
