Wednesday, March 28, 2012 Alex Hornborg Prepped and Ready for FKCS Action
Alex Hornberg Racing
Coming off his best Florida Winter Tour weekend of competition to date, Floridian driver Alex Hornborg will be back on track this weekend for the third round of the Florida Karting Championship Series (FKCS). Taking place at the Race Complex facility in Fort Myers, Florida, Hornborg will look to build on previous results as well as elevate himself in the championship points battle as the season reaches its midway point. Working with tuner Tony Loniewski, Hornborg will be behind the wheel of an Ocala Gran Prix powered Tony Kart at the southwest Florida facility. Competing in both the TaG Junior and Rotax Junior categories, Hornborg will hit the track Friday morning for unofficial practice before wheel-to-wheel action commences after qualifying on Saturday morning. "I am excited to be back in the kart," expressed Hornborg. "We had a really strong showing at the final rounds of the Florida Winter Tour as I ran in the top ten throughout the weekend. With the tough competition and experience gained there, I will be gunning for podium results in Fort Myers." Currently sitting fifth in the TaG Junior and third in the Rotax Junior point standings, a pair of solid results would increase Hornborg's chances at a title. While younger brother Mikey continues to recover from a broken wrist attained at the second round of the Florida Winter Tour, the youngest of the Hornborgs will have to forgo the upcoming FKCS round to ensure he is completely healed. Looking forward to and hoping to be back on track for the next round of the North Florida Rotax Max Challenge program, Mikey is itching to get back in the kart and compete at the highest level.
