BATON ROUGE, La. -- The O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Series wrapped up the 2006 season with their annual banquet tonight and handed out over $80,000 in cash and contingencies with the highest amount being awarded to the 2006 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model National Champion David Ashley of Zachary, Louisiana. Ashley claimed $8,500 for winning the National Championship and finishing second in each of the three regions established by SUPR in 2006. In a surprise announcement, the O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Series upped Ashley’s take home money up to $10,000, matching the payout he received for winning the 2005 title. Series runner-up and winner of the ArkLaTex and Gulf South regions, Jason Ingalls of Longview, Texas pocketed $7,900 for his efforts. East Texas region champion and third place finisher in the National chase Ray Moore of Shreveport, Louisiana went home with $6,000.

Brock Williams of Denham Springs, Louisiana was crowned the 2006 Creel Brothers/Late Model America Rookie of the Year and was also awarded a set of Brodix SUPR-spec Heads as the hard luck racer of the year, a title earned out of sheer tenacity, running every race on the schedule and overcoming adversity to climb to 4th in the National Championship Standings.

The regional structure will return in 2007 with an increased Championship payout as each regional champ will receive $3,000, up from $2,500 in 2006 and the National Champion will receive $5,000, up from $2,500 in 2006.

Another major announcement at the banquet is the creation of the O’Reilly SUPR Modified Series. The O’Reilly SUPR Modifieds will compete in 16 events (15 announced to date) and will run under UMP Modified sanction and rules with racers competing on Hoosier A-40 tires. In addition a crate motor option will be available for Modified competitors. Racers can utilize the 602 and 604 crate motors and will be granted a 100 lb. weight break.
