Thursday, March 4, 2010 'The Negotiator' Ricky Yetter Goes Green in 2010 for Dirt Track Heroes Show
by Steve PadosBETHELEHEM, Pa. -- In a 2009 racing season that possibly saw more downs than ups, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania based attorney Ricky Yetter re-grouped over the winter months and is now anxious to put last season behind him and will hit the ground running in 2010 with an invigorating new paint scheme and a new number as he looks to improve on last season's performances in a big way. The 2009 racing season proved to be a tough one for the tenth year racer as the team went into the history pages of the Yetter Family in racing and came up with a paint scheme and number that matched the colors on the car for when his Dad, noted Modified talent Rich Yetter, was steering a Big Block Modified at the Nazareth Speedway in his Y-73 mount. The verdict for the Retro car was not a good one as Yetter found himself on his lid for the first time in his racing career before the first month of the racing season was completed. Struggling to recover from the severe damage the racer sustained in the hard wreck put the team in arrears early on and the remainder of the season found the team playing catch-up to the talented driving roster at the speedway. The final points total placed the team in 31st in the final tallies and Yetter vowed to go with a new look and outlook for the new season at Big Diamond. "The Negotiator" will unveil his new look race car on Sunday, March 7th with the grand opening of the 3rd Annual IRCO Sponsored Dirt Track Heroes Show in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Yetter has been a part of the show since it's inception and comes back for the third edition of the popular Mall show ready for action and is putting the finishing touches on the refurbished race car for the maiden showing on Sunday. The Yetter machine has gone green for the new racing season and is aimed at getting to the front of the pack at the always tough Big Diamond Raceway for Friday night competition in 2010. Along with the unique paint scheme, the car number changes as well with Yetter choosing the number five for 2010. In the past, Yetter has always utilized the number three as his racing number and last year went with the Y-73 retro number. This year the team switches to number five as Yetter's son Colton Cash was born on November 5th and in throwing caution to the wind is hoping the new colors and number will help rid the team of the nagging gremlins that have plagued the team in the past. Yetter will be among the drivers interviewed on March 12th when the Mall show salutes the Big Diamond and Grandview Speedways along with the Reading and Harmony Historical Racing Groups With the assistance of his dad and crew chief, the team has completely refurbished a 2007 Teo Bow-Flex design chassis for the rigors of the tough Pennsy raceway. To help speed things along, a Pat Morrison powerplant will go between the rails for Yetter to negotiate his rides to the top side of the Big Diamond track. Sponsorship for the team comes from the Yetter Law Offices with Jim's Towing and Judy's Auto Repair providing additional help for the Lehigh Valley based team to make the trek each week to Big Diamond. As time permits a second car of Teo design will be readied for some of the special Modified shows throughout the season and will have a powerful Van Horn built Big Block motor installed in it. Yetter also has a Slingshot racer in his arsenal of race cars to do some special shows when the time permits. After a successful career in the small car divisions, Yetter moved into the Modifieds in 2000 racing with the late Bill Riehl for two season as the now defunct Mocatek facility. Taking some time off of racing to earn his Law Degree, Yetter returned to the racing wars in 2004 with his own equipment and has been competing with the Modifieds ever since. Yetter has recorded wins at the Redline Raceway and the Afton Speedway in the past and has competed at Thunder Mountain, Five Mile Point, Accord, Grandview, New Egypt and the Big Diamond race tracks. Yetter is a graduate of the Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan and received Cum Laude honors from the Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. He is accredited for Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Admissions and provides expertise in Collection, Contracts, DUI and Criminal, Family Law, Real Estate and Wills and Estates among the many services from his Bethlehem Offices. Yetter raises the bar in 2010 as he is running for District Court Judge of the 03-2-12 Districts. With his tossing of his hat into the political ring, Yetter is fully aware the position may restrict the amount of racing he will do in 2010 but his positive outlook will keep him moving forward whether it is racing or the judgeship he pursues in his immediate future.
