 by Dave GraysonThe annual Colorado River Fair will be in full swing April 2nd through the 5th in at the fairgrounds in Blythe-California and the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will be playing a major role in this year's fair with a full night of exciting racing on April 4th. The latest round of the speedway's 2008-2009 Winter Blast Racing Series, on the quarter mile paved oval, will feature high flying action from the Street Stock, Legend, Bandolero and Factory Stock divisions. The special fair edition of racing is being presented by the Larry Green Auto Group. As the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway's winter season heads into its final scheduled races, there is a very exciting points championship picture developing in the Street Stock ranks. 68 year old Ralph Adams, or "34 times two" as he likes to say, has spent the winter season attempting to win the Street Stock championship at both the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway and the Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City-Arizona. While the racing is going extremely well for this ageless wonder on the Arizona side, Adams has his hands full with a skin tight points battle in Blythe. Going into Saturday night Adams has three feature wins, six top finishes and 372 points. He's going to be fending off the strong challenge of Bryant Sutterfield who is only two points behind the leader. Sutterfield has been red hot and also has won three features including the last two in a row. Both of these drivers could find themselves dealing with Richard Selph and D J Lonie Saturday night who are conducting their own private battle for third in the series' standings. The high flying Legends will be making their final appearance in the Winter Blast season this Saturday night and it appears that the Snow family will be leaving the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway with a one-two finish in the points standings. Brecken Snow, with a feature win and four top five finishes, leads Brandon Snow by 14 points. The youngsters in the always exciting Bandolero division are in the midst of a very tight points battle within their own Colorado River Racing Series currently being conducted at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway and the Havasu 95 Speedway. The series for these future racing stars in heavily supported by Havasu Legends and Bandoleros, JJ&B Racing and Bando Stuff. Going into Saturday night there is a championship battle between drivers Kyle Niquette, Tommy Kelley and Alex Morgan that is so close you could practically cover all three cars with the same blanket. The fan favorite Factory Stock division will also be presenting their own version of racing is rubbing this Saturday night. Justin White continues to lead the division's points standings. After a fun day at the Colorado River Fair, make it a point to take in some racing at the always exciting Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway. The green flag falls on the racing at 7pm. General admission tickets are $10 and $8 for seniors 55 plus, military personnel and the handicapped. Teen tickets, age 13 to 17, are $5 while kids tickets, age 6 to 12, are $3. Children five and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The speedway also offers a money saving family pack for $20 which admits two adults and two kids age 17 and under.
