DANVILLE, Va. -- Actor Patrick Dempsey has filed an entry for the Bosch Engineering 250 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race at VIRginia International Raceway on Saturday, April 25.

Dempsey is no stranger to VIR's twists and turns, as he has raced on the historic track several times. VIR is one of his favorite tracks: "it's an awesome track to drive as well as visit," he said. "Coming here is a great release - it's like a vacation."

Dempsey's show business career started on stage before moving into film and television. Best known for his role in as Dr. Derek Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy, he has appeared in numerous other films and television programs.
