Brent Robinson Racing

SMITHFIELD, Va. -- The Brent Robinson Inc. (BRI) racing team made the trip down to Dublin Speedway in Dublin, NC for a $4,000 to win show on July 6th. The night started off well with Brent piloting the Terry Heating and A/C, CAMS Race Engines, Chevrolet Monte Carlo to the pole for the second week in a row picking up the $200 Fast Time award. Brent would then run between the 2nd and 3rd position for most of the race hoping to make a bid for the win near the end, but at the halfway point the radiator cap malfunctioned and blew off ending the night. The next night the team traveled to the nearby Fayetteville Motor Speedway for a points race only to be rained out soon upon arrival. The team then decided to head North to Clary’s Speedway for an unsanctioned $2,000 to win show. Brent qualified 6th fastest but was involved in a first lap tangle forcing him to retire early from the event. The following weekend on July 14th the team would travel to Travelers Rest, South Carolina for a $4,000 to win Carolina Clash event. Crew Chief Dean Robinson found an alarming sign with the motor in the weekly check. This would mean the team would scramble to prepare the backup car in time to make the point’s race. However, Brent would qualify 11th for his first ever trip to the 3/8 mile oval and was running in the 8th position, a little past halfway in the race, when a piece of debris would hit a brake line and knock the brake system completely off meaning another unsatisfactory finish. Brent is still leading Rookie of the Year points with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series also positioning him 5th in the overall Carolina Clash Points.

“We had a very good chance to have some good finishes these past two weekends but the craziest luck really ended those chances. We’ve had more bad luck the first half of this year then the last two years combined so hopefully we can get things turned around and have a strong 2nd half of the season. The motor in our primary car turned out to be fine so we will be racing it this weekend, but it is really disappointing that we had to take the backup car to another race before we had time to fix some of the issues with it.” stated Brent Robinson from the team’s race shop in Smithfield, VA.

The BRI racing team will compete in a $10,000 to win World of Outlaws event at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. From there the team will either head to Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for a $12,000 to win World of Outlaws event or take the rest of the weekend off. More information on these events can be found at www.worldofoutlaws.com/latemodel/ . Any information on Brent’s plans for this weekend will be updated at www.brentrobinsonracing.com . In conclusion, a division of Carlson Race Photos Inc., known as Dixie Dirt TV, taped the past Carolina Clash race at Travelers Rest Speedway. These races and many more events that Brent has competed in this year can be watched by registering for free at www.dixiedirttv.com.
