LAKEPORT, Calif. -- The "Mighty Midgets" of the Bay Cities Racing Association make their first of two appearances at the Lakeport Speedway this Saturday night.

Highlighting the competition will be two Lakeport drivers, Eric Mostin and Brian Gard. Gard recently moved to Clovis to attend college and work. He will be driving the Napa-based Arata Brothers Chevy-powerd Stealth. Mostin, aboard the family Gaerte-powered Beast, will be looking to repeat his two victories at the Lakeport paved oval that he attained in 2004.

Among the other top entries will be Travis Berryhill. The current BCRA point leader has scored two consecutive feature wins aboard his "Spirit of American Canyon" Fontana-powered Stealth, one on the dirt at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and the second at the paved Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka.

Defending BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton will be piloting his Chevy-powered Beast on the fast Lakeport Speedway quarter-mile paved oval. Sarale won the Lakeport feature at the June race last year.

Also entered will be seven-time champion, BCRA's "Elder Statesman", Floyd Alvis of San Carlos, driving his VanDyne/Stealth, as well as Steve Roza of Clovis, David Prickett of Fresno, Ralph Cortez of Sacramento, Bill Lindsey of San Carlos, Cameron Beard of Atwater and Gary Dickenson of Santa Rosa, among others.

The midgets, rated at more than 350-horsepower in 900-pound racing machines, are among the fastest race cars to appear at the Lakeport fairgrounds facility.

Also on the BCRA agenda will be the popular vintage division, demonstrating midgets from the 1930's through the mid-1970 eras.

The program will also include the NCRA mini stocks, street stocks and bombers. Adult admission is $11, students and seniors $9 and children $5. The family package of two adults and two children is $29.
