DOHA, Qatar – B1 Racing drivers Ali Aryan and Khalid Mohammed both blasted to career-best times during qualifying for the Arabian Drag Racing League Round 6 competition Friday at Qatar Racing Club in Doha.

Straight out of the gate with his brand-new Pat Musi 903 cubic inch engine, Pro Nitrous driver Khalid Mohammed shot down the track with a 3.875-second run at 194.94 mph, and then backed it up with a career-quickest lap of 3.852 at 194.66 to give him the provisional No. 3 spot overnight. Pro Extreme driver Ali Aryan waited until the end of the day to make his move, delivering his own career-quickest 3.626-second pass at a blistering 206.830 mph.

"The conditions were amazing, and we finally got it together on that last lap," Aryan said. Aryan sits provisionally at No. 2 in the Pro Extreme class with just one more qualifier left on Saturday.

Khalid Mohammed said, "Today, the conditions were just perfect. Pat gave me a car that just took hold of the track and ran, and it felt amazing. Everything is running so well, and now we're just trying to get more data for eliminations."

Mr. Mohammed's crew chief, Pat Musi, was also extremely pleased with the performance of his driver. "Khalid is driving so well, and the team is really working together to get the car ready to run. This is a great team, and as we get more and more laps, you'll see us make up that six-hundredths that we're off of the top spot. There's a lot of potential here, and I'm so thankful to be a part of it."

B1 Racing's other Pro Extreme driver, Josh Hernandez, struggled to get down the track his first two attempts, and ran a 3.724-second lap at 203.49 mph in the third qualifier, but is currently just outside the top eight with one more chance tomorrow.

"Sometimes we just have too much power, so Jim and Troy have to back it down to get it down the track without shaking," Hernandez said. "I'm confident, though, that we'll be fine tomorrow afternoon. These guys are the best of the best."

Qualifying concludes Saturday with one round scheduled for 2:00 p.m., followed by eliminations scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
