Tuesday, July 31, 2007 If Galaxy’s Beckham Produces in FC Dallas Match, Soccer Fans Score at Texas Motor Speedway
by Jason WiseFORT WORTH, Texas -- Soccer superstar David Beckham, who will lead the LA Galaxy against host FC Dallas on Tuesday evening at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, could make some soccer fans guaranteed winners at Texas Motor Speedway should he produce offensively in the Major League Soccer match.
In celebration of Beckham’s inaugural visit to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and tribute to his jersey number, Texas Motor Speedway will give “23” fans two free tickets each to the Dickies 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Nov. 4 should he score a goal or register multiple assists against FC Dallas.
“David Beckham is an icon in the soccer world and it is exciting for sports fans of the Metroplex to have the opportunity to watch him perform live against FC Dallas. Hopefully, he will have rebounded from that ankle injury and put on a show,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “Although I am hoping for a win by FC Dallas, we thought it would be interesting to provide a bonus for soccer enthusiasts who have racing in their blood, too. I also would like to extend an open invitation to David to come out to Texas Motor Speedway and attend a NASCAR or IndyCar Series race or even try his hand at driving in a Team Texas stock car. Although if he ever decides to get in a stock car, I sure hope he doesn’t ‘Bend it like Beckham.’”
To be eligible for the race tickets should Beckham score or record two or more assists, fans must show up at the Texas Motor Speedway ticket office Wednesday wearing any Beckham-related apparel or apparel showing support of local club FC Dallas.
The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT and the first 23 eligible fans will receive a pair of tickets to the Dickies 500. The offer is only available for redemption during the ticket office hours on Wednesday.
