Texas Raceway Set to Host Two Days of Huge Pro Modified Action

KENNEDALE, Texas -- This Friday and Saturday, November 6-7 Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX will play host to the Lenmar Motorsports Pro Mod Shootout presented by Circle H and RH Well Services. This two-day event, the season finale for the Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association, will feature one of the richest purses for Pro Modified anywhere in the country. The weekend will kickoff Friday night with the TOPMA Top 8 shootout. There, the top 8 drivers in the Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association will square off for a massive $30,000 guaranteed purse.

In that single elimination shootout, fans will see the fastest full bodied cars in the state of Texas square off for the largest purse in Texas Pro Mod history. The players include defending TOPMA champion Ken “The Bad Bird” Thomas and current Texas Raceway record holder Gaylen “Texas Bounty Hunter” Smith. The third seed, Frankie “Mad Man” Taylor was the former record holder at TXR will almost certainly have a say in the races outcome. All three will be challenged by perennial front runners Gene “Small Block Mafia” Hector, Steve “Red Reaper” Wiley, local favorite Jackie “Underdog” Deaver, Heath “Twisted Texan” Harvey, and David “The Chrome Kid” Baldwin!

In addition to the TOPMA shootout Friday night, competitors will also have two qualifying sessions for Saturday nights TOPMA event. Saturday competitors will have one last opportunity to qualify for the Saturday TOPMA event. Gaylen Smith’s track record of 3.870 will be in jeopardy as the top competitors pound down the fabled Texas Raceway 1/8th mile in the crisp November air! The track mark has set and reset already in 2009, as Frankie “Mad Man” Taylor held the mark at 3.881. But Taylor’s record was good for under a month, as Smith and his Texas Bounty Hunter stole the title with his 3.87 blast back in April. Those two and more will take aim at the track record, the TOPMA title, and the enormous purse this weekend.

Will Texas Raceway host an all 3-second Pro Modified field? Will the astounding 3.87 track record be reset? Will a household name like “The Texas Bounty Hunter,” “Mad Man,” or “The Bad Bird” take home the TOPMA title, or will an “Underdog” fly in under the radar to take the prize? Find out this weekend at the fastest little Dragstrip in Texas; Texas Raceway in Kennedale.

In addition to the TOPMA shootout and series events, Texas Raceway will host Fun & Grudge racing Friday and Saturday, open to all cars and bikes. The Saturday event will also feature a “King of the Hill” shootout as sub-4 second back-half doorcars scream down the Texas Raceway 1/8th mile on 10.5” slicks. Saturday’s event will also showcase the Texas Backhalf Outlaws and Outlaw 330 Junior Dragsters! Spectator tickets are $20 for a two-day Pit walk-in ticket, or $30 for a 2-day Pit drive-in ticket. Discount tickets are still available online at www.TexasRaceway.com. Overnight camping is available with the purchase of a two-day event ticket. As always at Texas Raceway, kids 12 and under are free. For more information, visit www.TexasRaceway.com, or call 817-483-0356.
