Friday, March 5, 2010 Motorsports Digital Photography Workshop at Kingsport Speedway
by David AllioKINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Kingsport Speedway and UARA will host a digital photography workshop by award-winning professional motorsports photographer David Allio in conjunction with the UARA 150-lap Late Model race on March 26-27, 2010. The two-day program will include classroom sessions on technical aspects of digital motorsports photography, instructions on working safely in a dangerous environment, how-to get published from auto racing events, and copyright and image licensing.
David Allio, former track photographer at Kingsport Speedway, is currently the Digital Image Coordinator and Chief Track Photographer at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He has also been the Chief Track Photographer at the Bristol Motor Speedway in four different decades. Already in 2010, Allio's auto racing photography has appeared in most major motorsports publications, as well as mainstream sports media, including Sports Illustrated. Selected images from his 2009 racing season were shown to a standing room only crowd in a special exhibition earlier this year at the Annenberg Photo Space in Los Angeles.
"I am excited to be returning to Kingsport Speedway. My motorsports photography education began there 36 years ago," Allio, a member of both Nikon and Canon Professional Services, said. "The photography lessons that were learned at Kingsport Speedway have proven to be a great foundation for a life-long career."
These digital photography workshops have been designed to be a unique combination of classroom sessions based on case studies, detailed question-and-answer sessions, and live racing action. Participants are allowed to create digital photographic images in a real racing environment, interacting with UARA drivers and officials throughout the weekend's racing activities.
"We are always happy to help with education," said Wink Bodenhamer, spokesperson for UARA. The North Carolina-based sanctioning body is hosting this workshop program for the first time.
Workshop class sizes are limited for maximum personal learning opportunities. Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Advanced reservation are required. Additional information and online registration is available at: http://www.davidallio.com/workshop.htm
