Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Frank Welch Memorial '94' at Grundy Co. Speedway this Friday Night
 by Tom WhiteMORRIS, Ill. -- The Third annual Frank Welch Memorial “94” presented by Rod Baker Ford will take place at “The Friday Nite Racin` Place” this Fri Nite Aug 10. The program will take a new twist for 2012 with three segments and three different inverts and possibly three different winners. A unique scoring system, lowest score wins will declare the overall winner. The 94 Lap Super late model event will carry a record purse for Friday nite competition. The “Big” event will also feature a full program of Street Stocks and 4 cylinders. A Record field is expected and entries have been received from Indiana standouts Jack Kalwasinski, DJ Weltmeyer, and from Illinois the man to beat and current point leader Pat Kelly, Eddie Hoffman, Larry Schuler, Ricky Baker and latest entrant Robbie Pyle driving the John Brolick owned mount. The event honors the legendary Frank Welch who was a member of the Grundy County Agricultural District Fair Board for over 50 years, and served as its President for over 30 years; as well as serving as Race Promoter for the Grundy County Speedway from 1971 until his death in June 2009. Frank Welch Memorial 94 Special Prices Stockcar racing every Friday Night thru Labor Day The gates open Friday at 6:00 p.m., with time trials set for 6:45 p.m. and the first race getting the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Four Division feature races will highlight the program Including Super Late Model, MidAm Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders.
