MORRIS, Ill. -- Eddie Hoffman used 2 feature wins and a 2nd place finish to win the Frank Welch Memorial this past Friday night at Grundy County Speedway. In a new format for 2012, the winner of each of the 3 features would get 1 point. The rest of the field would increase by a point by each position. The driver with the lowest overall score at the end of the night would be declared the winner.

In race 1 the field started straight up with fast qualifier Anthony Danta on the pole. Pat Kelly picked up the win followed by Hoffman, Danta, Chris Cooling and Josh Nelms. Race 2 saw a total invert of lead lap cars from race 1, which put the invert at 20. Hoffman worked his way through the field from the 19th starting spot and picked up the win over Dave Gentile, Robbie Pyle, Larry Schuler and DJ Weltmeyer. In race 3 a roll of the dice set the invert at 8 and Hoffman once again worked his way through the field and held off a hard charging DJ Weltmeyer who made a run for the lead but came up short at the end. Danta, Nelms and Erik Pierce rounded out the top 5 spots.

In the overall rundown the top 5 were Hoffman, Kelly, Weltmeyer, Danta and Nelms.

In Street Stock action Randy Weese jumped out to a big lead but Nathan Kelly and Logan Love tracked him down and made the pass. Love would try to get up to Kelly to pass him but it was Kelly adding to his point lead and putting another feature win in the books. Weese held on for 3rd followed by John Senerchia and Chris Lelak. Earlier in the evening Weese and Pete O'Dell would pick up heat race wins while Kelly set fast time.

In pure stock action Zach Mitchell made the pass for the win coming off of turn 4 on the last lap and inched ahead of Mark Williams by a few feet at the finish line to take home the feature. Kirk Lindemuth, Rich Dearborn and Dan Schmeissing rounded out the top 5 spots. Lindemuth also picked up a heat race win earlier in the night.
