ANDERSON, S.C. -- The 43rd Year of Auto Racing at the Anderson Motor Speedway gets under way on Friday Night March 25, 2005. Highlighting the weekly activities will be the Late Model Stock race. Along with the Late Model Stock race there will be racing held in the C-Mini Stock Division, B-Mini Stock Division, Renegade Division, B-M Modified Division and the 600 Racing Legends Division. Numerous special races and activities are scheduled for 2005 season with others in the planning stages. The United Auto Racing Association (UARA) Late Model cars are slated to run once in May and a second time in August. The Charger cars will be run periodically with the plan being at least once a month and possibly twice a month if the car count warrants. Another "Faster Pastor" race is scheduled for October with the Pastors competing on Golf Carts this year instead of Lawn mowers as they did last year. The infamous Banana race will be ran once again this season plus there will be an additional fan based race ran known as the "Sack race" where the driver will be blindfolded with a sack over their head and a passenger directing the driver. Also, a Bicycle race will be held once a month for the Anderson Motor Speedway Junior Fan Club Members. The Annual Reece Fant Memorial Hejaz-Shrine race is in the planning stages at the moment with a date to be announced in the coming weeks. According to track management, numerous special races and activities are scheduled or in the planning stages for the 2005 season. Once again, the goal is to present the fans with exciting racing on a weekly basis and to give them an opportunity to participate in special events. The new grandstand restroom is near completion which will make the fans’ experience more enjoyable.

Although the Feature division is known as Late Model Stock division some changes have been made to the division’s cars. First, Crate motor cars will be allowed to run with the present Late Model Stock cars with a special carburetor rule that will allow the two cars to compete on an equal basis. The Crate motor cars will be allowed a 390 carburetor whereas the Late Model Stock cars will run a 350 carburetor. There will be a major rule that will affect both cars. This new rule is known as the "Two Tire Rule". The rules means that each car will be allowed only two new tires weekly. Each driver must run two scuff tires and two new cars which will be marked prior to the start of the nights racing program. The two tire rule was instituted for two key reasons. First, the cost to participate on a weekly basis will drop which should encourage more drivers to compete on a weekly basis. And second, some other local speedways have adopted this rule along with the crate motor rule which appears to have helped their weekly car count.

Further information can be obtained from the Anderson Motor Speedway website at www.andersonmotorspeedway.com or by contacting the speedway. Anderson Motor Speedway is located off Highway 81 two miles from I-85.
