Bear Ridge Speedway Division Sponsors Set for 2008 Season

by April May Preston

BRADFORD, Vt. -- 2008 will see a couple of new names on top of the divisions competing in 2008, and while the names have changed the former sponsors are still a major part of the Ridge, in a different way for 2008.

In the Ridge Runner Hornets the local FM station of WYKR will once again be returning as the title for this fun action packed division. WYKR has been involved with Bear Ridge Speedway for a very long time, and is proud to be returning for yet another season of racing at the Ridge.

The Fast Fours will see the return of the Journal Opinion as their title sponsor, and as with the Hornets have enjoyed this same sponsor for several years, and are anxious to make this local paper proud to be on their title line.

The IMCA Modifieds in their 3rd year of competition at the Ridge will once again be sponsored by another local business; A Notch Above Automotive of Bradford Vermont. This relationship has worked well over the past two years, and the Ridge is happy to have A Notch Above returning as the title sponsor for this growing division.

The two divisions seeing a change in 2008 are the top two of the weekly racing series, and while their former sponsors are not the title sponsors, they have both maintained a sponsorship relationship with the Ridge in 2008 and are expecting an exciting season for all in 2008.

The Sportsman Coupes will be called the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes, which while a change in name is in fact a sister dealership of Gilmour Ford Jeep Dodge. This is an exciting opportunity for Wells River Chevrolet and the Ridge and both are anticipating an action packed season for this division.

The Sportsman Modifieds will be titled the Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds in 2008 and with the numbers growing daily in car count for this division, Bond Auto is extremely proud to be of this new and growing division.

Bear Ridge Speedway would like to say thanks to all who stopped by the Diamond Run Mall in Rutland the weekend of March 15th & 16th to see the machines of Sportsman Modified Drivers Ron Casey and Frank Hoard, and to everyone who stopped by at the Hanover Home and Life Show this past weekend. The Hanover show saw over 200 kids of all ages climbing into the 2007 champion’s car in the Sportsman Modified Division, to get their pictures taken and walking away smiling from ear to ear. We hope to see some new friends we made over the weekend this summer at the Ridge!

Car shows are not over yet, as the next place you will be able to see a large selection of machines representing the Ridge, and our associate tracks and organizations will be on Sunday April 13th, as the 7th annual Upper Valley Car Show hosted by Bear Ridge Speedway will be hitting the Wal-Mart/Borders/Price Chopper Plaza sponsored by US Cellular. This show has been a large success over the past six years, and we are looking forward to seeing you all there this year!

On May 3rd a “test and tune” session at the track has been scheduled, which will be FREE to the fans (general grandstands).

When the season’s opening flag waves on May 10th general admission tickets will be for adults (ages 17 to 61) $10.00 a person, children 11 and under free, $8.00 for teens 12 to 16 and seniors 62 and older. Season passes are available for general admission. Adults $150.00, Seniors and Teens $130.00. Bear Ridge Speedway continues to offer the best source of good inexpensive high quality entertainment for families.

2008 membership and car owner applications are available on line or by calling 603/222-4052. Why not get yours today to beat the long lines at the gate on the 3rd and 10th.

Bear Ridge Speedway is as an alcohol free family friendly entertainment spot, with our goal to make each experience at the Ridge better than the last. Remember “Dirt where every lap is the last lap.”

Bear Ridge Speedway is located off exit 16 of I91 on to Rte 25 west 1 mile to South Road up the hill to Kidder Rd. The green will wave every Saturday starting May 10th at 6:00 pm. Be sure to check the web www.bearridgespeedway.com. Questions can be sent to brsdirt@earthlink.net
