$1,500 Up for Grabs to Saturday's Mountain Sport Modified Winner

ST. JOHNS, Pa. -- Following last weekend's $2,000 to win 75-lap Modified main event, the management at Mountain Speedway looks forward to the upcoming 75-lap cone race for the Sport Modifieds, which will pay $1,500 to the victor. Second place will pay $600 and the green flag money is $110.

It's no secret that the Sport Modified car count has been low this season, but the increased purse and tire rule for the event should make it easier on the competitors, which in turn will hopefully bring some cars out of the woodwork.

A tire rule will be in effect for the Sport Modifieds. The drivers will scale prior time trials and the tires will be marked, those are the tires you must use for both time trials and the feature. Once time trials are over, you have the option can move the tire placement on the car i.e. right front to right rear, left front to left rear, but the 4 marked tires are the ones you must use. No tire changes of any kind can be made once the tires are marked when you go over the scales prior to time trials. Cars will be scaled before time trials and before the feature.

Time trial order will be set using the fastest speed from the practice sessions. Drivers will then line up for time trials, starting with the slowest to the fastest drivers.

Also on the card for the evening are the Late Models, Factory Stocks, TQ Midgets and Bandoleros. The pit area opens at 2 PM and practice will begin at 4 PM. The grandstands open at 5 PM and time trials are slated for 6 PM. General admission cost is $12. Children 10 and under are free.

Mountain Speedway is just minutes from Hazleton, Pa, located on St. John's Road, between Routes 93 and 309. Grandstand admission for all regular events is just $12 for ages 11 and older. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free.
