Wednesday, July 11, 2012 The End of an Era... Opens up a New Door

MERTZTOWN, Pa. -- Some people say everything happens for a reason, in the case of Pete Knappenberger deciding to leave Grandview Speedway, the saying is true. After 7 years of being the victory lane announcer at Grandview Pete has found a new home. Late Monday night Pete received a phone call from Dino Oberto on behalf of Mahoning Valley Speedway (MVS) and they asked him to be their victory lane announcer and bring his brand of humor to their speedway.
“It didn’t take me long to make the decision, ever since I visited Mahoning last year for their 100 lap race I was hooked” Pete Knappenberger said. “I will have to get used to new names and different surrounding but I am so excited for this opportunity and I want to thanks the promotional team at the track for this chance to announce at the track.” Knappenberger added
July 14th will be the debut of Pete Knappenberger as Dino Oberto’s faithful side kick, Dino was an important part of bringing Pete to the speedway, Dino and Pete have worked together on Pete’s internet radio show for approximately the last three years. “When I heard Dino announce at the track and the way he tells a story I knew he would be a great fit to the radio show, I called him and he accepted right then and there and the rest is history.”
Knappenberger said when asked about the relationship with Dino.
Along with Pete coming to assist Dino with the announcing duties he will bring several contingency sponsors. Texas Roadhouse, a huge part of Pete’s radio show, will give each winner a dinner for two at their Trexlertown location, Brown Daub Ford in Nazareth will give away oil changes, Willow Street Pub in Coplay will have some give a ways throughout the second half of the season and Racers Roundtable.com will give away t shirts on a weekly basis.
