Tuesday, May 22, 2012 Tri-City Breaks Ground on New Quarter Midget and Kart Track, Tri-City Junior Speedway
 by Kevin & Tammy GundakerPONTOON BEACH, Ill. -- A new chapter is being added to the Tri City history books. Construction of a new Quarter Midget and Kart track began a little over a month ago, and is located in the southeast section of the property (outside turn 2 of the big track) Located behind the Bowling Alley.
'Tri City Jr Speedway', as it is affectionately known, is a regulation size Quarter Midget track and large enough to run Karts. Banking is being added to the turns over the next two weeks along with Staging & Hot Pits area. The First laps were taken today on the Jr Speedway for the Ribbon Cutting with Quarter Midget drivers Blake Rose age 8 & Wesley McClery age 6 along with some Kart laps. The first day for racing action is Saturday, June 16th with racing starting at 1:00 in 5 divisions Novice, Jr Honda, Sr Honda, Light160 & Animal classes. We will be hosting a open practice in the next two weeks, more details will be released shortly.
