Wednesday, November 25, 2009 Indianapolis Speedrome Banquet Major Announcements for 2010

INDIANAPOLIS -- The World's Home of the Figure 8 comes off its annual awards banquet with plenty of momentum for next year's motorsports campaign. The sold-out Speedrome gathering at Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria was an evening of celebration of the season just completed with drivers, fans, crew members, sponsors, car owners, and employees all in attendance. The track distributed tons of awards and over $25,000 of point fund money to the famous fifth-mile's top 2009 performers. But, the night also was a launching pad for racing relationships for 2010.
The United States Auto Club will be making their return home to the Speedrome next season. The legendary sanctioning body will resume their long and storied relationship that has launched some stellar driver careers. Longtime USAC newsman Dick Jordan was on hand at the banquet to give the group an overview of the exciting events ahead. ?The Speedrome has hosted more USAC events than any other track cementing the returning home analogy?, stated Jordan. The upcoming schedule will see four divisions competing in six Midweek Mania shows. Those point championship nights will see fantastic competition for Regional Midgets, Ford Focus Midgets, Junior Focus Midgets, and .25 Midgets. The dates for this heralded return are May 26, June 2, June 9, June 23, June 30, and July 7. This will be the 38th year that USAC has sanctioned races at the track.
The INEX Legend and Bandolero machines will once again grace the upcoming schedule at the Speedrome. The 2010 listing of great racing excitement will see the small car stars competing nearly every weekend mainly on Friday nights. The North Carolina based INEX sanctioning body has launched the careers of NASCAR drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Reed Sorenson, and many more. The local INEX dealer, Performance Racing Products, was on hand to address the festive crowd. Owners David Freeman and Mike Hacker are your source for new and used cars as well as all the parts needed to keep you Legend or Bandolero on track. You can reach them at 888-917-4777 or on the web at www.4prp.com.
The World Figure 8 Tour will make 4 stops at the Speedrome in 2010. The Midwest best crossover gladiators will compete on Friday evenings. The dates for this championship point series are April 30, June 11, July 2, and July 23. Each event will consist of qualifications, heat races (except July 2nd), and a thrilling $1200-to-win 100-lap Figure 8 feature. The overall series champion will receive a minimum $1000, a 5-foot trophy, and a locked-in starting spot for the 34th Annual World Figure 8 Championship on September 11, 2010. ?This is an awesome opportunities for teams to race at the host track in preparation for the celebrated World Figure 8 weekend? said series historian Scott Nigh. ?Fans will be the ultimate winner with more great Figure 8 action on their plate during the upcoming year?.
