Tuesday, September 13, 2011 $100,000 'Pittsburgher' at PPMS Kicks of Fall Major Event Season on September 15-17

MARS, Pa. -- "The Pittsburgher" kicks off the fall major event season at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway on September 15-16-17. The 2011 "Pittsburgher" will be an all-out, high-power event with the 3 fastest classes of clay track racing headlining the program; the UFo/ULMS Super Late Models, Outlaw 410 Sprints and BRP Big Block Modifieds. With the reformatted version of the event achieving the highest attendance in a decade, "The Pittsburgher" for 2011 will offer over $100,000 in payoff. The massive $100,000 payoff will be offered with no car entry fees for any class. The Super Late Models will battle for $9,000 total to win for 2 days. Start payoff and non-qualifiers money has been increased for both Super Late Model races in 2011 with $700 total for 24th. All Super Late Model teams are guaranteed a minimum total of $250 for non-qualifiers if attending both days. Outlaw 410 Sprints will pay $2,200 to win and $250 to start. BRP Big Block Modifieds will race for $1,500 to win and $200 to start. The payoff for the UEMS E-mods will be $1,200 to win with $200 to start, Pro-Lates $800 to win with $200 to start and Cadets $500 to win and $150 to start. Hobby-Modifieds will race for $300 to win and $100 to start with the Roadrunners paying $200 to win and $100 to start. All cars attending in the Pro-Lates, E-mods, Cadets, Hobby-Modified and Roadrunners will be guaranteed $100 minimum if they do not start the feature. Super Late Models will race under UFo car rules, while the 410 Outlaw Sprints will use standard car rules used at the area tracks. FASTRAK rules will apply for the Pro-Lates, UEMS rules will apply for the E-mods with PPMS rules in effect for the Cadets. Hesston's Hobby-Modified rules will be in effect for that class with additional weight breaks for smaller motors ans street tires, which will open competition up to other area track's pure stocks, chargers and hobby cars. PPMS young gun rules will apply for the Roadrunners, with the exception of the race now being open to any driver 13 years of age or above. Super Late Models, Outlaw 410 Sprints, Cadets, and Hobby Modifieds will use an open and compound tire rule. UEMS tire rule will apply for E-mods, with the FASTRAK tire rule in effect for the Pro-Lates and track tire rule in effect for the Roadrunners. The UFo vs ULMS "Pittsburgher" will kick off with an open practice on Thursday, September 15. Gates will open at 5:00 with practice from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. On Friday night, September 16 the Super Late Models will compete in the "i-Monster." This will be a full racing program with a 33-lap feature paying $2,000 to win. The feature will not award UFo points, but will award ULMS points. The BRP Big Block Modifieds will compete in a full racing program with a 30-lap championship feature with Pro-Lates, UEMS E-mods, Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners racing in qualifying heats also on Friday night. Keith Barbara of South Park, PA won the "i-Monster" in 2010. Pit gates will open at 3:00 for the "i-Monster," with grandstands opening at 5:00, warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00. On Saturday, September 16 at PPMS, UFo and ULMS Super Late Models will race in a full racing program with a 66-lap feature paying $7,000 to the winner. The 410 Outlaw Sprints will race in heats and a 22-lap feature paying $2,200 to the winner. The Pro-Lates, UEMS E-mods, Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners will compete in championship feature races. Gates will open at 3:00 PM with warm-ups at 5:00 and the Hobby-Modified and Roadrunner features approximately 5:30 PM. The Outlaw 410 Sprints and Super Late Model programs will begin approximately 6:30 to 7:00. Sunday, September 18 will be the rain date for the event. The highest finisher of Friday night's "i-Monster" Super Late Model feature that does not qualify for "The Pittsburgher" will Admission prices for practice on Thursday, September 15 are $20 for the pits and free for grandstands. Prices on Friday, September 16 for the "i-Monster" are $20 for grandstands, $15 for junior 13-16, $10 for child 7-12 and $38 for all pit passes. Prices for "The Pittsburgher" on Saturday, September 17 are $30 for grandstands, $15 for junior 13-16, $10 for child 7-12 and $38 for all pit passes. Discount 2 day tickets are available for Friday and Saturday at the price of $45 for the grandstands, $25 for junior 13-16, $15 for child 7-12 and $70 for all pit passes. Davey Johnson of Latrobe, PA is "The Pittsburgher" defending race winner, taking his 4th "Pittsburgher" in 2010.
