Wednesday, June 6, 2012 Monster Truck Mania and Wacky Wheels Set to Invade PPMS

BarlowPITTSBURGH, Pa. -- It's a "Monster Saturday" at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway as the world record holding Monster Truck "Bad Habit" and driver Joe Sylvester return to perform "car crushing and bone jarring" stunts at intermission. The evening will also include the second installment of the always exciting and entertaining Wacky Wheels Figure Eight Mania is also on the schedule in addition to a complete racing program for the Super Late Models, Pro-Lates, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns. The evening's action is being sponsored by Truck-N-Stuff. "We are pleased to welcome Joe Sylvester and the Bad Habit Monster Truck Team back to PPMS," commented speedway owner Matt Miley. "This is an excellent opportunity to showcase our Five Division Action Event program to the monster truck fans. We hope they will enjoy the exciting racing here at "Dirt's Monster Half Mile" and tell their friends about the affordable motorsports action they can see here each week in Allegheny County." Intermission will also feature Bad Habit Stunt Riders, Ray and Britt, performing in a quad exhibition. Veteran Curt Habedl scored the win in the first Wacky Wheels event held last month and is slated to be in attendance this week to try and make it two in a row. The event, which pays $150.00 to win and $25.00 to start will also find Bad Habit driver Joe Sylvester in competition. Last Saturday night, lady racer Kari Gasser scored her first ever Super Late Model victory in the Joe Johnson owned 0K Rocket Chassis. Gasser shadowed Tommy Beck in the early stages of the main event before taking the top spot and then out-dueling Alex Ferree in the closing laps of the 25 lap event to score an enormously popular victory. In addition to Gasser, Hobby Stock competitor Tyler Fox scored his first ever feature win over Chase Evans and defending Wacky Wheels Champion Joe Podolinsky. Other winners last week included Mike Pegher, Jr. (Pro-Lates), Jake Simmons (Late Model Sportsman) and Christian Schneider (Young Guns). The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for all Saturday events open at 5:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM. In 2012, the management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will utilize a Sunday evening rain date in the event Mother Nature fails to cooperate with the Saturday night racing action. Times for the Sunday rain dates are as follows: Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates open at 4:00PM, Hot Laps at 5:00PM and Racing at 6:00PM. Adult Grandstand Admission for this Saturday is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $9.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise. Pit Admission for this week's racing is $30.00. Fans are also invited to bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. And don't forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries and cotton candy at "fan friendly prices."
