Sunday, June 17, 2012 Kreitz Continues His Winning Ways at SSP on Sunday Night
by Todd FisherNEWBERRYTOWN, Pa. -- Don Kreitz of Sinking Springs won the 25-lap Summer Classic for the 410 Sprint Cars on Sunday night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Jacob Allen collected his first career SSP 358 Sprint Car feature win at the Newberrytown oval as well.
From the pole position by virtue of the redraw after the heat races, Don Kreitz grabbed the early lead and led with Greg Hodnett and Aaron Ott in pursuit of the leader. Weaving through lapped traffic, Hodnett closed in on the bumper of Kreitz to attempt the pass for the lead. However Kreitz was perfect in moving by the slower cars and once again opened up a straightway lead once lapped traffic was cleared. A flat tire for Danny Dietrich brought out the first caution of the feature on lap 22. The 3-lap shoot-out for the win found Krietz taking the checkered over Greg Hodnett and Aaron Ott. Blaine Heimbach finished fourth with Brent Marks rounding out the top five. Lance Dewease, Ott and Kreitz won their respective qualifying heat races.
In the 20-lap 358 Sprint Car feature event, Jacob Allen bested Pat Cannon by leading all 20 laps. Allen grabbed the early lead and never looked back as he wired the field from start-to-finish to win the 20 lap feature event with heavy pressure from Cannon in the waning stages of the race. Dale Hammaker finished third, followed by Cris Eash and Tim Wagaman. Cannon, Wagaman and Smith were heat race victors.
