FRANKLIN, Pa. -- Tri-City Speedway officials opened the Cranberry Mall Race Car Show on Thursday morning with the release of the 2010 schedule featuring a total of 22 events, including the World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Model Series. The mall show continues on Friday night with a special press conference. The 2009 Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday night.

“We’ve put together a great schedule for the 2010 season,” said Tri-City Speedway Co-Promoter Rich Hetrick of H&H Motorsports. “We’ve worked hard to put together some excellent events, and we’re really excited about our all our shows.”

The half-mile Venango County dirt track will open for racing action on Sunday April 25th. The first four-star racing show will include the Engles Trucking DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, 4 Your Car Connection FASTRAK Late Models, Welding Technologies/Shaw Industries E Mods, and E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks. The Pro Stocks, which underwent a number of rule changes during the offseason, will also compete weekly for the Klapec Auto Body Crate Bonus. Those same four divisions will compete nearly every Sunday night throughout the season at Tri-City. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. and racing starts at 6:00 p.m. each night. Adult grandstand admission on most nights will be $12 this season. Pit admission will be $27 and will be reduced to $22 for those with a valid DIRTcar License. For grandstand and pit admissions at special events, check the track website at www.tricityspeedway.com.

The biggest show of the season will anchor the winged part of the year as the World of Outlaws Sprint Series invades Tri-City for the first time in track history on Sunday May 30th. The event pays a whopping $10,000-to-win. Famed Super Sprint star and 1980 track champion Brad Doty will be on hand for the Memorial Day Weekend show. Doty will be inducted into the Tri-City Hall of Fame. The United E Mod Series (UEMS) will also be in action with a $1,000-to-win special. The raindate for the event is Monday May 31st.
Tri-City celebrates Independence Day on Sunday July 4th with a huge three-division show. The highlight will be NASCAR Sprint Cup driver and former World of Outlaws Sprint Series champion Dave Blaney, who will be inducted into the Tri-City Hall of Fame and compete in the DIRTcar Super Sprint Challenge Hall of Fame Classic paying $2,000-to-win. In addition, the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds will host their biggest race of the season, the BRP Modified Tour 18th Annual Kodiak Memorial also paying $2,000-to-win. The E Mods will round out the show, and more will be announced about this event in coming weeks.

The All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Series will return to Tri-City in 2010 with a $5,000-to-win event on Sunday July 18th. Similar to last season, the FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series and UEMS E Mods will round out a special midsummer three-division show.

In addition to these three events, the Super Sprints will compete in two other $2,000-to-win DIRTcar Super Sprint Challenge events on Sunday May 2nd and Sunday September 5th. Other Super Sprint races will occur on August 1st, August 15th and September 4th.

The tradition continues with Tri-City’s Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend featuring two nights of competition for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Saturday and Sunday September 4th and 5th. Each night, the Late Model drivers and teams will run qualifying events and a 50-lap feature for $10,000-to-win. In addition, the Super Sprints, FASTRAK Late Models and E Mods will run complete shows each night. The Super Sprints will join the race weekend for the first time. The winged warriors will race on Saturday night for $1,500-to-win before Sunday’s DIRTcar Super Sprint Challenge Series race paying $2,000-to-win. The FASTRAK Late Models will run a regular show on Saturday night as a lead-in to Sunday’s FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series race, which will be the second series event of 2010. The UEMS will sanction both nights of E Mod competition. This year, the track will open on Friday of Labor Day Weekend for a test and tune session. That night, Engles Trucking and Ray’s Racing Collectibles will host the annual Labor Day Kick-Off Party.

The season concludes with the 14th Annual CSTechnologies Plus Applefest 100. The E Mods, Pro Stocks and Mini Stocks will highlight the show, and more news and exciting changes to this event will be announced later this season.

Other season highlights include the American Cancer Society Drive 4 the Cure event on Mother’s Day, Meet & Greet events for the four main divisions at the track, a hilarious Redneck Night promotion, McDonald’s Kids Night bike races, and a Lowry Auto Wrecking Demo Derby. In addition to September 3rd, test and tune sessions will also occur on May 20th, June 24th, July 22nd, and August 26th. The track will be closed on August 29th.
