BANKS, Ore. -- The 2012 season keeps rolling along for the Sunset Speedway Park as another night of action was completed on Saturday June 16th. The DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes made their first appearance of the season at the Banks bullring along with the PHRA Dwarfs, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees.

The DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes drew a strong field of cars for their first visit of the year at SSP and it was a wild feature. A large wreck around lap twelve took several cars out of competition including two-time and defending champion Greg Walters. Bob Trout was the early leader bur Terry Ferrando hunted him down and led the rest of the race to earn his first win of the year.

Jason Wines would finish in second with Bob Trout in the third placed position at the stripe. Jack Marontate and Jerry Schram would finish in fourth and fifth place to complete the top five. Greg Walters was fast time of the night at 14.213 seconds, heat races were won by Walters, Wines, and Tim Goodwin, and the trophy dash was won by Wines.

Eric Bergquist got the job done in the PHRA Dwarf A feature by leading all thirty laps and winning the race. He managed to hold back the always fast and competitive Henry Corbin III as the Dwarfs invaded SSP again with a large field of cars.

Henry Corbin III was the second place finishers via the consolation event and Mike Chadwick was third. Jim Pavel and Leo Hachler rounded up the top five finishers by placing fourth and fifth. No qualifying was implemented with the PHRA but heat race winners were Cory Knudson, Mike Chadwick, and Nik Larson. The A trophy dash was won by Henry Corbin III and the B trophy dash was won by Ronnie Gilmore Jr. while the consolation feature was won by Henry Corbin II.

Craig Loomis won his third Street Stock feature of 2012 after taking the lead from Ed Johnson early in the race. The defending track champion led all but the first four laps to win the race and was back in dominate form after winning the first two features of the year.

Tanner Baldwin would finish in second place and Jeff Lovell would come across the finish line in third. Tony Catalano was in fourth and fifth place went to Ron Jermann to complete the top five. Jacob Meyers was quickest in time trials with a time of 15.955 seconds, heat were won by Catalano and Brian Roden, and the trophy dash winner was Lovell.

Johnny Adams continued his sensational 2012 4-Bee campaign Saturday night by leading all but the first two laps and lapping all the way up to third place. It marked his third feature win of the season in the division and his second straight and almost got the clean sweep except he was not fast time.

John Gartner would finish in second place followed by Cody Jones. Barry Lampert and Levon Packard completed the top five finishers by placing fourth and fifth. Mike Mastangelo was quickest in qualifying timing in at 18.286 seconds while Johnny Adams won both the heat and the trophy dash.

The Sunset Speedway Park returns into action on Wednesday June 20th with the Wild Wild West Modified Shootout competing along with Kenny Schrader racing alongside the competition with Street Stocks and Pure Stocks as support classes. Saturday June 23rd will have the return of the Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, and the Womens all in action.
