BANKS, Ore. -- Despite another rainout on Saturday June 30th the Sunset Speedway Park will not be out of action for much longer as Wednesday July 4th will mark their next event with the Firecracker 100. The regulars of the DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes will take on the DirtCar Super Late Models for a one-hundred lap showdown in the main event. A four-cylinder bump to pass classification will be on hand as the support class and a firework show will conclude the Independence Day date with a fireworks display.

The DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series has produced two winners of their own this season after two other events were co-sanctioned alongside the DirtCar Super Late Models for the Clair Cup at Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway. In the two sovereign races for the series defending series champion Greg Walters earned the season opener at the Madras Speedway in May and Terry Ferrando won the most recent series race in June at Sunset Speedway Park.

In 2012 DirtCar Super Late Model action, which has taken place completely at the Willamette Speedway, has produced five different winners in five races. Jeremy Shank earned the 2012 Strawberry Cup and his father-in-law Russ Sell won the Clair Cup. Other winners include Casey Vitale, Rob Mayea, and John Duty this year.

The Wednesday July 4th event will have special pricing which are the following: Adults $15.00, Seniors (62+) - $12.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $7.00, Youths (Ages 5 and Under) FREE, a Family Pass (Two Adults and up to Four Youths) $35.00, and Pit Passes are $25.00. The event starts a little bit later on Monday evening also with front gates opening up at 3:30 and racing at 6:30.

The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
