LEBANON, Ore. -- The first Kart race of 2012 finally occurred on Friday June 29th at the Willamette Speedway despite some threatening clouds just before the pit meeting. It was the first race of the season on the new track in the infield which turned out to be a gem and will surely be the talk of the west coast in the karting world. Before the first races started memorial laps were taken for Scott Bangle, by drivers from the Cottage Grove area, who unfortunately passed away earlier that day and was a big part of Kage Kart racing throughout the years.

Conner Hanson Creswell was the winner in the 5HP Subaru classification and Albany’s Blake Boshart was the winner in the Pee Wees. The Speedway Kart victor was Phil Pfau of Salem and winner in the 125cc division was Austin Jones of Lebanon. Brody Sim of Albany completed a clean sweep in the 5HP Open and Patrick Dills of Cottage Grove won the Open Kage while Evan Manasco of Springfield was the winner in the Micro Sprints with a clean sweep.
