OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Robert Sellers may have crossed the finished line second but he was scored the victory in the super sprint division as weekly racing action continued at State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City on Friday night. Chris Burns took the lead just past the races midway point and held on to win the tracks championship sprint division. Other winners included Stanley Reed Jr. and Steve Clemmons.

Cale Levescy and Whit Gastineau started on the front row for the twenty lap super sprint feature with Gastineau taking the lead as the green flag fell. Bruce Jennings, Travis Scott, Sellers and sixteenth starting Larry Neighbors gave chase to the leader the first couple of laps before Neighbors moved passed Sellers and Scott for third down the front stretch on lap three before taking over the top spot from Gastineau down the backstretch.

By lap eight Neighbors, driving the F-5 chassis house car, had quickly built a commanding full stretch advantage. Sellers moved passed Gastineau for the runner up position on lap nine with Jennings and David Lambert your top five at the races midway point. At this point the leaders began entering heavy lapped traffic with Neighbors once dominating full straightway lead now slowly evaporating to eight car lengths by lap sixteen. Sellers continued his chase the final four laps before finally closing to three car lengths by lap nineteen. Neighbors would keep his pace the final lap, however, and go on to take the three car length victory over Sellers.

However, official scorers ruled after the races that Neighbors jumped the original start and penalized him two spots giving Sellers the victory. Gastineau finished a strong second with Neighbors being scored third. Jennings came home fourth with Jeff Taft rounding out the top five.

In the tracks championship sprint division, Don Mann and Johnny BurnellSr., on the front row for the twenty lap feature but it was third starting Dittman who snuck underneath to take the lead as the green flag fell. Fifth starting Cody Whitworth followed into second followed by Strike Hill, Burns and Mann. It stayed that way for just one lap before Hill brought out the caution with a spin in turn three.

On the attempted restart, Courtney slowed the pace as he also brought out the caution with a same spin in turn three.

When the race finally resumed, Dittman jumped out front with Burns taking over the runner up position from Whitworth while behind them, tenth starting Sellers moved into fourth on lap three. By lap five Dittman was out into an eight car length advantage while Burns, Whitworth and Sellers battled for the runner up position. The caution waved on lap eight when Bishop, Mann, ButlerSr., DeVeny tangled in turn one.

Burns began to creep up on the leader for the next several laps after the restart and he caught the leader on lap nine, driving underneath Dittman on the backstretch to briefly take the lead. But Sellers done some creeping of his own as he used to top of the track to drive around both Dittman and Burns to take over the top spot.

At the races midway point it was Sellers, followed by Burns, Whitworth, twelfth starting Whit Gastineau and Dittman with Burns giving pressure to Sellers. Competition became fierce on lap twelve when Burns drove underneath Sellers coming out of turn four to take the lead. Meanwhile, behind him Gastineau put his sprinter in contention as he used the top of the dry slick track to take over second from Sellers one lap later.

Lap fifteen would see the nights final caution wave when Michelle Decker went for a spin in turn one. Burns, Gastineau, Sellers, Owens and fifteenth starting Kenneth Walker was your line up on the final restart with Gastineau continuing to challenge for the lead while Sellers and Walker also pressured. The final two laps was a shootout with Burns holding on as Gastineau drove alongside the leader. While Gastineau was busy challenging for the lead, Walker used the opportunity to drive around Gastineau for the runner up position with one lap to go.

But Burns would hold on to take the three car length victory over current division points leader Walker. Gastineaus strong effort ended in third with Gary Owens fourth and Sellers fading to fifth.

In the pro stock division, Ricky Bulter and Michael Reed on front row with M. Reed taking lead as the green flag fell. Butler, S. Reed, Chuck Poff and James Beane all gave chase with S. Reed taking over the runner up position on lap two. M. Reed kept up to a three car length advantage over brother S. Reed for the next several laps before S. Reed got a run down low coming out of turn two to take the lead on lap seven. Behind them, Travis Gorbet began making his charge to the front and by lap nine had moved his way up into the third position.

Back up front where S. Reed had steadily pulled out to a eight car cushion while behind him, Gorbet had caught M. Reed in a battle for second. Ninth starting and defending division champion Mark Brill also began making his way to the front by passing Butler for fourth with five laps to go. During their battle for the runner up position on lap eighteen, Gorbet drove in too deep entering turn three and made contact with M. Reed, causing both to spin to bring out a caution and both to the back on the restart..

On the final restart, S. Reeds half stretch lead was wiped out with Brill now running second, followed by Smith, Hicks and Poff. Although Brill lined up on S. Reeds tail there was no passing for the lead on this night as S. Reed held on to take the victory over Brill. Steve Smith came home a strong third with LelanHicks and Poff rounding out the top five.

The factory stock division saw Clemmons start on the pole for the fifteen lap event and quickly set the pace as the green flag fell. Brian Stinson, Jeffery Rozelle, Randy Willmon and Tony Osborn gave chase as Clemmons quickly built a five car length lead. Eighth starting Andy Gordon moved into the fifth position on lap two while in front of him, the leader had built a comfortable half stretch lead.

At the races midway point it was Clemmons, followed by Willmon, Gordon, Stinson and Dainels. Clemmons kept his machine comfortably out front while behind him, fourteenth starting Shawn Jorski moved into the fourth position on lap twelve. Willmon, who was running second with two laps to go, suddenly retired to the pits giving Gordon the runner up position.

But there was no catching Clemmons and he cruised to take the victory over Gordon. Jorskis charged ended in third with Rozelle coming home fourth and Stinson rounding out the top five.
