Thursday, July 2, 2009 K-C to Host The Night The Stars Come Out
by Scott WolfeCHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Friday, July 3rd marks the historic 'Night the Stars Come Out' at Jeff and Vickie Schrader's K-C Raceway. Tagged with the "16th annual" banner, this racing spectacular has become know as a "must see" event for Midwestern racing fans. Paying $5,000 to win in both the All-Star Late Models and O'Reilly All-Star 410 sprints, this high-impact event will pay over $70,000 in total purse money.
Started as an anniversary celebration for previous owners, the Karshner family, "The Night the Stars Come Out" was the first event of its kind nationwide, combining the All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars--and at that time-- the STARS late models. Since that time the STARS late models were purchased by another organization and both the "Xtreme" Late Models series and NARA Lucas Oil series have been on the 'Night the Stars Come Out' racing card. One thing that has remained has been the loyalty of the All-Star sprint series, now owned by businessman Guy Webb. Friday, the All-Star sanction umbrella's its reign over the entire night's racing activities.
Steve Francis, Mike Balzano, Donnie Moran, Steve Shaver, Steve Casebolt, Jr., Bart Hartman, Jackie Boggs, Eddie Carrier, Jr., Ben Adkins, Jason Montgomery, and the racing Conley's have joined forces in the past to compete in this illustrious event. Last week at the 1st Capital Clash stars such as Keith Berner, Eric Wells, Hartman, Montgomery, Doug Drown, Rod Conley, Chris Combs, Chad Smith, Mike Wilson, Kevin Layne, Ryan Markham, Andy Bond, Barry Doss, John Whitney, Bill Williams, Anthony Adams, Nick Corbitt, Ryan Edelblute, and Bobby Kitchen came out to make final preparations for this race.
Additionally, some of the best names in sprint car racing will take on K-C regulars Jimmy Nier, Caleb Griffith, Keith Baxter, Danny Smith, Neil Sheppard, Ron Blair, Mark Imler, Josh Davis, Eddie Slone, Kirk Jeffries, Brandy Bower, Alec Martin, Jimmy Stinson, Dallas Hewitt, Todd Kane, Chad Gullett, Luke Hall, Aaron Higgins, Dave Dickson, and Brian Benson. Nier leads the points' race this season while 2008 champ Danny Smith would like to add the "Night the Stars Come Out" to his resume in front of the hometown crowd.
Sold originally as one of the best bargains in racing, fans will continue to see two quality invitational events this year at one bargain price, the cost of a typical one series show.
K-C is located 6 miles South of Chillicothe off SR 23 at Blain Highway. For further information call 740-663-4141 or visit the K-C website at www.kc-raceway.com
