Thursday, July 23, 2009 O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Powers to Portsmouth Raceway Park on July 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Graphic Impressions will again be in action this weekend with the tour’s only visit to the Buckeye State of Ohio at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for a 40 lap, $3,000 series points event.
The Saturday July 25 Portsmouth Raceway Park event will feature a full schedule of practice, Racing Optics time trials, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, Graphic Impressions, C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, and All Star Performance qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win REAL Racing Wheels A-Main. Local divisions in action for this event will include Modifieds, Limited Late Models, and Bombers.
Activities for the July 25 Portsmouth Raceway Park event will see the pit area open at 4:00, with the general admission area also opening at 4:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting is at 6:00 p.m., with practice at 6:30 p.m., time trials at 7:00 p.m., and racing at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for this event will $12 in the general admission area and $22 in the pit area.
The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division has made two previous appearances at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Those previous winners include Audie Swartz of Minford, OH (2007) and R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, OH (2008).
The A-Main purse for the Saturday July 25 Portsmouth Raceway Park event is as follows:
1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $1,000, 4th- $800, 5th- $750, 6th- $700, 7th- $650, 8th- $600, 9th- $550, 10th- $500, 11th- $450, 12th- $400, 13th- $350, 14th- $350, 15th- $325, 16th- $325, 17th through 22nd- $300, 23rd through 24th- $250.
The series tire rules are as follows: Hoosier- LM20, 1300, 1350, LM40, 1600, D55; American Racer-SD44, SD48, MD56. These compounds choices must be used on the front and rear tire selections at all sanctioned events. Soft tire compounds must durometer a minimum of 40, while hard tire compounds must durometer a minimum of 60.
Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio is located 1.0 miles west of Portsmouth off Rt. 52 & 73/104. The track is a 3/8 mile high banked clay oval that is promoted by Donna Rayburn and Chuck Greenslate. The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division last competed on July 18 Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN was the winner for the third consecutive series event. Heading into the July 25 race at Portsmouth Raceway Park, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY has taken over the series points lead by seven markers over Victor Lee of Stanford, KY The remainder of the top ten in series points entering the July 25 event are Mike Marlar (Winfield, TN), Aaron Hatton (Mount Sterling, KY), Michael Chilton (Salvisa, KY), Bobby Wolter, Jr. (Lexington, KY), Dustin Neat (Dunnville, KY), Mike Jewell (Scottsburg, IN), Dustin Linville (Bryantsville, KY), and Tim Tungate (Campbellsville, KY).
