DEGRAFF, Ohio -- Shady Bowl Speedway fans were greeted by cool weather Saturday night (8/11) as Mother Nature made up for storms of last week. Five divisions of stockers were on hand to compete, plus fans were treated to an exibition race by the Vintage Auto Race Club cars.

The 30 lap late model main saw Ashville OH driver Jamie Hunt jump out front at the drop of the green flag. Hunt was looking for his first win in seven seasons at the Bowl. Hunt was able to pull off the feat of leading all 30 laps in his Creative Tool and Die backed racer to carry the checker. Mark Parker, the Hot Rodz Auto Sales Challenge fans choice was second, as he ran down Hunt but was unable to pull off the pass. Austin Troyer turned in a very impressive effort to finish third, with Sam Heckman fourth and fast qualifier Brad Coons fifth. Mathew Parsons was the winner of the dash, with Shawn Stansell taking the heat win.

The modified feature was hotly contested as Springfield's Shane Shirk took over the top spot from early leader Brad Yelton on lap seven. Shirk took his #2 to the high side and set sail for the checker as fast qualifier Greg Stapleton made his way to second spot on lap 11. Stapleton tried his best to get by Shirk, but Shirk held the preferred high line. It was great show for the fans with Stapleton just able to get his nose under Shirk, only to have him pull away. The checker flag flew on lap 39, and all Stapleton could do was watch it fall over Shirk's Maplewood Tree Service backed racer. Yelton held on for third, with Bill Burba fourth and Chad Poole fifth. Rob Yelton was the dash winner, with heats going to Burba and Josh Smith.

The 20 lap tuner headliner was a very competitive event that saw several tight groups of cars battling for positions. When the checker flew it was rookie Jeremy Meade of Greenville smiling for victory lane photos as he celebrated his first ever win in his Glassman backed Honda. Matt Stone, Gary Eaton, Kevin and Chad Small rounded out the top five. Jim Massengill claimed the dash checker, with Stone and Carroll Nease taking heat wins.

The Ohio Valley Dwarf Cars were part of the program and Jesse Gade took the feature win in his PTS backed racer. The evening did not start out well for Gade as he crashed his primary car during hot laps. Gregg Sparks, Ryan Miller, Tyler LeVan and Connie Smith rounded out the top five. Gade was the dash winner.

The compacts finished out the nights racing and New Carlisle's Matt Jackson picked up the feature win in his Hanger 18 Race Cars backed Cavalier. Jim Massengill, Colt Scherer, Randy Shannon and Steve Anderson finished second thru fifth.

The Saturday (8/18) the Bowl will host a special $100.00 to win compact race. The late models, street stocks, modifieds and tuners are also on the schedule. Racing action will start at 7.
