Touring Series & Sanctioned Divisions: Star Mazda Series Tracks
The Star Mazda Series takes place in five geographical regions across the country. This gives racers the opportunity to compete for a Star series divisional championship at tracks that are convienient to where they live. The series is a featured support series for the American Le Mans Series at Professional Sports Car events, and has also been featured at select NASCAR, IRL and SCCA events.
Since 1990, The Star Mazda series has been offering racers Atlantic car performance at a Club Ford cost. The car has its own stand alone class in SCCA, making it eligible for SCCA Regional & National events, and of course the SCCA Runoffs.
"The simple fact that a driver can race in so many different venues is a real advantage," says Gary Rodrigues the chief administrator of the Star Mazda Series. With races at Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Sebring, Charlotte, and Daytona among other top class race facilities, the series covers the entire United States from coast to coast.
Many professional racers got their start in these cars including, Tom Kendall, Johnny O’Connell, Memo Gidley, and Mike Groff. Organizations such as Lynx Racing, Brian Stewart Racing, and Team Green have become involved in career enhancement programs that recognize the driver development potential of this series. This involvement has made The Star Mazda series the place to watch for the "stars" of the future.
