Touring Series & Sanctioned Divisions: UARA Southern Touring Auto Racing Series Schedule·Points
The United Auto Racing Assciation is a sanctioning body for the STARS (Southern Touring Auto Racing Series). The corporate office is located in the heart of stock car racing country in North Carolina.
A group of investors saw the need for a stable enviroment for the tour to expand into the future, and they have made a long term commitment to allow the tour to grow.
The STARS drivers are a unique mix of competitors, with championship veterans, to up-and-coming rookies.
A diverse 16-race schedule thoughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia continues to attract teams and sponsors.
Through its use of rules common to most short tracks in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Series offers the speedways the opportunity to showcase local talent upon the tour's visit. Pitting the local weekly heroes verus the STARS drivers increases fan support for the events and allows various local speedway programs the opportunity to promote their level of weekly talent versus other speedways in the region.
Drivers are scored not only by winning races, but also their ability to qualify or win heat races and especially their ability to race thur traffic and gain positions throughout the course of a race. This unique scoring system rewards those drivers possessing "driveability" versus starting a race up front and maintaining their postion.
