Turkey Leg 100 Enduro to be Televised MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Coming in just two weeks, Saturday November 21st, the 2nd Annual Turkey Leg 100 Enduro $1,000 to win and Turkey Tango Demolition derby will be televised! PBS / NOVA will be at Outlaw Motor Speedway for the Turkey Leg 100 Enduro and the Turkey Tango Demolition Derby to do a show on material science. Several cameras will be around the track and number of cars will be outfitted with in-car cameras. NOVA is the show that is on PBS that is filming the days events. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/ NOVA is filming a series on material science, such as what the physics are in metal and materials and the science in these types of races and demolition derbies. It will also cover how strong the metals and structures are, the force in the wrecks and how the people sustain any impact. The episode will air sometime in 2010. "This is an exciting opportunity for the Muskogee area to make an impact and be televised all over the world," said track co-owner Lynn Skinner. "This is a race that literally anyone can enter and now they get to be on TV. "Just get a car, knock out the windows and basically race it," said Skinner. "With $1,000 up to the winner and no entry fee, this is one of our funniest and most entertaining races of the season." "We would love to see 200 cars starting the race, that would be a sight having cars stretch all the way around the track," said Skinner. The last two Enduro races, the Hotter than Hell 100 in September and the April Fools 100 were both won by Muskogee's Matt Burnett who pocketed $2,000 in total winnings. Looking to defend his title against over 100 cars, Burnett is entering a marked man. "This is the average joe race, the guy you see at the grocery store, your neighbor, your mom, anyone and everyone will be here racing, said OMS track manager Eric Shannon. "There will be someone racing in this event that you will know, this is why this race is so fun. That is what this is about, is having fun." "And with the race being on TV, how cool is that?" Last season for the Turkey Leg 100, 140 cars entered the race and 12 finished. As for the Demolition Derby, it is a winner take all race. There is a $20 entry with the winner take all.
