Canadian Jordan Sims Looks to End 2009 on a High Note this Weekend in Memphis

MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. -- Lorz Motorsports and driver Jordan Sims will end the 2009 racing season within the ASA Late Model Series by partaking in the series' season finale on Saturday, November 7th at the Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, Tennessee for the running of the O'Reilly Auto Parts King's Ransom 300.

For Sims and crew, this will be their first appearance with the ASALMS main touring series, the Challenge Division and they'll be joined by nearly 40 pre-entries for the grueling 300-lap feature around the fast 3/4 (0.750) mile progressively banked paved oval.

Prior to Memphis, Sims and his Lorz Motorsports team ended the ASALMS Northern Division portion of their 2009 racing season with the 2009 ASALMS Northern Division Season Championships / Oktoberfest 100 which were part of the 40th annual Oktoberfest Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin on October 10th.

After a seventh place finish at Oktoberfest which allowed Sims to maintain his sixth place standing in the final ASALMS Northern Division Points chase, Sims and the entire Lorz Motorsports crew have had some time to get ready for Memphis.

"The team is ready to finish off the year with a good run at Memphis. We will have a camera for this race so that should be cool," Stated Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz. "We can show off are sponsors on the car and give our sponsors and drivers some exposure. It's been a great year for Jordan and we plan on finishing our great season on a great note."

Lorz himself has fond memories of the Volunteer State facility, which will close at the conclusion of the 300-lap feature. "I remember we ran an ARCA car there in 1997 when the track was brand new. They just finished it and we were the first car to go on to the track to practice now we got news this week that the track is closing down and we will be last race there. I hope some one will buy it and bring ASA Late Model Series racing back to Memphis."

Crew Chief, Dan Lorz added; "I would like to thank Adhesive Systems, a long time sponsor of Lorz Motorsports for sponsoring the car for Memphis. It's a shame this is the last event at Memphis. It's such a great facility, but the whole team is ready to go."

"We pretty much rebuilt the whole car and we have a few new ideas so it should be fun," Continued Lorz. "It's going to be a long race so we have to be there at the end. We have to make sure we finish strong for the last event." He ended.

After the 10-race schedule that made up the ASALMS Northern Division's 2009 schedule, Sims finished sixth overall in the title chase, 38 points out of the Top Five. As for the chase for the 2009 Rookie of the Year title, Josh Nelms was crowned with the 2009 freshman title as 17-year-old Ross Kenseth finishing fifth overall and second over Sims by those same 38 markers.
