Rescheduled 'Screamin' Demons Halloween Motorsports FestEvil' Saturday at Mercer MERCER, Pa. -- Mercer Raceway Park will try again this Saturday evening, November 7 to host the long-awaited, inaugural 'Screamin' Demons Halloween Motorsports FestEvil'! The inclement fall weather continued last Saturday forcing the postponement to this weekend and there will be a possible rain date of Saturday, November 14.
The dual motorsports motorsports event will include the 'Warlock 30' PA State Mini Stock Championship and the 'Ghoul Pulls' truck and tractor pulling competition featuring the 4x4 Diesel Trucks, 4x4 Gas Trucks, Street Semis, and V8 Modified Antique Tractors. The highly-anticipated Northeast Ohio Dukes 'Hazzard County Stunt Show' will thrill spectators. The Kids Bike Race Super Nat's and a 'Junk 'n the Trunk' trick or treat extravaganza will still be part of this exciting event.
'It was such a disappointment to have to postpone last Saturday,' stated 11th year owner Vicki Emig. 'We really worked hard to promote the event and a lot of people were looking forward to the various aspects of the event, but Mother Nature just wasn't conducive. Hopefully everyone will come out this Saturday as the entire show has been brought back in tact. The early outlook is for sunny skies and the temperature near 60 as that would sure sound good after fighting the weather after week-after-week.'
The inaugural 'Warlock 30' Pennsylvania State Mini Stock Championship will bring together all of the area's Mini Stocks for what is sure to become their most prestigious event. The racing on this night will be for the Mini Stocks only and formatted similar to a World of Outlaw Sprint Car or Late Model show with qualifying, heat races, B mains, dash, and a four-wide parade lap will highlight the start of the 'Warlock 30'feature! The inaugural champion will also receive a championship plaque along with an embroidered warlock cape and scepter! There will also be an exciting non-qualifiers feature!
The winner of the 30-lap event will pocket a record $600 and will also receive a championship plaque and embroidered black warlock cape and scepter. The non-qualifiers feature will pay a complete purse with $100 to-win! Gene Steele has posted a $64 bonus for the 31st finishing driver (seventh in the non-qualifiers feature). Rules are posted at www.mercerracewaypark.com or call Brad Hibbard at 330-540-RACE.
The 'Ghoul Pulls' will join this motorsports extravaganza and spotlight three divisions of truck pulling (Super Street 4x4, Street Stock Diesel 4x4, Street Stock Semis) and V8 Modified Antique Tractors sanctioned by the Allegheny Highland Pulling Association. They will be competing for increased purse structures with the top three receiving trophies. Also, the top competitor in each of the truck classes from Mercer, Crawford, and Lawrence Counties will receive an additional cash bonus and trophy. The response has been very positive from coordinator Mike Gum. Question regarding the pull should be directed to Gum at 814-282-4656.
The Northeast Ohio Dukes will thrill the crowd with their thrilling 'Hazzard County Stunt Show' featuring the famous General Lee and Sheriff Rosco's Police Car in the world's only 'Dukes of Hazzard Stunt Show'. The 'Dukes Hazzard' characters we all know and love will also take part in this production including Bo, Luke, Daisy, Uncle Jesse, Sheriff Rosco, and Boss Hogg. Bo Duke and a couple of his sidekicks will also be available in the midway area for a two-hour meet, greet, and photo opportunity prior to the start of the night's exciting show.
